Shocking how many people donāt know that hens lay non-fertilized eggs and think the yolk theyāre eating is a baby chicken
once tried desperately to make my friend understand that yolks were not, like, a liquified potentiality of chicken, and she looked at me for a while and then said, "but theyāre both yellow."
Behold
A chicken
Image descriptions that incidentally make the joke infinitely funnier.

A+ example of how the media manipulates people for clicks and anger engagement.

Imagine being lost on the Enterprise all alone and itās just miles and miles of corridors like this
Oh, let me tell you a storyā¦
I was a production assistant onĀ āDeep Space Nineā.Ā
One day I was in a hurry, and decided to shave a half minute off my journey but zipping through a soundstage and out the other side. It was Stage Four, and held Ops, some personal quarters, Siskoās quarters, the Cargo Bay.. and hallways.Ā
It was lit, because we were moving there later in the afternoon. I began jogging through the corridor and stopped right in the middle, where I could see neither end of the set piece. Suddenly, I WAS THERE. I was on the station. It was a complete alternate reality feeling, almost deja-vu, a deep familiarity. I paused, and a chill ran down my spine.Ā
But I was in a hurry, and my feet took me quickly to the end of the set, and I looked back⦠yep, just a lit set, all alone on the soundstage, nothing I hadnāt seen a thousand times.Ā
And yet. I had been there. On the station. For a split second, I was no longer on Stage Four, on the Paramount lot, in the middle of Los Angeles. I was in Bajoran space, on a station in the stars. It was only a moment⦠but the feeling and the memory has never, ever left me.Ā
Sometimes I wonder if anyone else experienced the same thing.Ā
she replied with sources
But where are the sources tho? Cause thatās something Iād read the fuck out of a scholarly article about.
it's literally linked in the caption
You know whatās interesting, designer Jessica Ray - the actress who played the white ranger in Power Rangers Wild Force - actually started an entire line of swimwear based around brain studies like this. She gave a presentation in 2013 on the history of bikinis, invented in 1946 in France by Louis RĆ©ard, a car mechanic who looked after his mother's lingerie boutique in Paris. He named them after Bikini Atoll, the place of atomic bomb testing that year because he thought the publicās reaction to the bikini would be like an atomic explosion (it was so scandalous at the time no french model would wear it and he had to hire a stripper to debut it). From her presentation:
Princeton University had conducted a study of how male brains react to seeing people in different amounts of clothing, and brains scans had revealed when men were shown pictures of scantily-clad women, the region of the brain associated with tools, such as screwdrivers and hammers, lit up. Some men showed zero brain activity in the medial prefrontal cortex, which is the part of the brain that lights up when one ponders anotherās thoughts, feelings, and intentions [...] researchers found this shocking because they almost never see this part of the brain shut down in this way, and a Princeton professor said āItās as if they were reacting to these women as if they are not fully human; itās consistent with the idea that they are responding to these photographs as if they were responding to objects, not peopleā.
(her full presentation here, itās a very interesting watch, she refuses to wear bikinis anymore)
She designs swimsuits now with Audrey Hepburn as her inspiration

Marcia isnāt just āGeorge Lucasā ex-wife.ā Sheās the one who edited the original movie into a coherent narrative that actually made sense both logically and emotionally, and went on to win well-deserved awards for movie editing at a time when women in the industry were even more looked-down-upon than they are now. Whether you agree with her opinion or not, she has MORE than earned the right to speak it. (Also, sheās right.)
Back when I worked at walgreens I didn't know witch hazel was a real thing people would come in asking for it and I'd be like yeah it's on aisle 3 next to the wolfsbane and eye of newt you fucking idiot bastard

āOne of the most interesting things about Elizabeth Turner was her Kiss of Death. Throughout the trilogy, all of the men she locked lips with has died - including Sao Feng in At Worldās End, and (if you want to be petty about it) her father, Weatherby Swann. Usually they would die moments after kissing her for the first time. This excludes Will Turner who has kissed her several times before and beat the odds every time. However, even he succumbed to her kiss and died as well minutes after the two were hastily married by Barbossa. This is most likely a just coincidence and not something that was intentional, but years later itās still fun to point out to friends and watch a dawn of realization hit their face when they realize that Pirate Queen Elizabeth may have also been the Grim Reaper.ā
Alot of people seem to miss these two additional details:
The kiss of death only works when sheās on a boat (she never kissed Will on a boat until their wedding)
When the effect does kick in, the killing is preformed by the crew of the Dutchman.
When Jack died, he was killed by the Kraken, summoned by Davy Jones.
When Sao Feng died, was by the damage from the canons of the Dutchman
When Norrington died, it was by Bootstrap Bill, a member of itās crew.
And when Will died, it was directly by the hands of Davy Jones.
One more thing that has struck me as odd is when she interracts with Davy Jones, he acts as if heās seen her somewhere before. When the Empress crew point her out as the captain he has a sort of āwtf, you, you are their captain?ā reaction, now you could just shake that of as Davy Jones being a misogynistic but i donāt doubt heās seen female pirate captains before, given how long heās lived. And when they come face to face on the Dutchman, it feels like a meeting between sworn long time enemies (at least to me).
Elizabeth, what the hell are you even and what exactly is your connection to the Dutchman.
individuals will go into a system like I'm stronger than this system and will change it but no It's literally always the opposite
"I'm gonna join the the military and reform it from the inside" no you aren't. there aren't enough words in the english language to explain just how much you won't be able to do that
āSocialist leaders who, finding themselves caught up in the electoral machine, end up being gradually nothing more than bougeois with liberal ideas. They have placed themselves in determinate conditions that in turn determine them.ā

unpopular opinion but i think the film and tv industries should have better labor laws even if it makes it harder or impossible to depict certain things
i dont care if it makes it harder to produce game of thrones or whatever, acting should not leave women traumatized
Okay I know this is about acting and people are getting more traction about it (sexuality safety coordinators are a job! yell about them. demand your shows get them) but
Any person who has worked on a set for more than a few years has at least one person they know who died.Ā Ā
Not usually on set, but afterwards.Ā Because we donāt have anyone shutting down production for unsafe practices whenĀ āunsafeā means 16 hour days.Ā Or more.Ā For weeks.Ā Finishing a day before hour 12 (not including lunch) is considered an early leave.
I had teachers tell us not to, unless we absolutely had to, take music video gigs because theyāll work you for 24 hours and send you to drive home.Ā And if we had to work that, pull over and nap in our car because multiple people per year fall asleep at the wheel and go over the canyons around LA.
I know you mean acting but please.Ā Donāt forget the crew.Ā We have a shockingly high rate of suicide because these working schedules leave us with no sleep, no time outside of work, and it destroys lives, relationships, and families.Ā Burnout is high.Ā Chronic illness and broken bodies are common.Ā Cocaine use in order to get through a 20 hour day is rampant.Ā Every single one of your reality shows is fueled by cocaine.
The number of days that are scheduled to shoot a feature has shrunk dramatically in the past two decades.Ā Which means longer days.
Netflix shows are notorious for being poorly organized, understaffed, and long days.
There are labor laws but what they do is levy fines.Ā Those fines are either factored into budget, people are bullied into not reporting actual hours, or crew members see them as incentiveĀ to take those jobs because more money and cost of living is high.Ā (Also this industry has a crew culture of dick measuring by sticking your wang in a blender and boasting about how many 100 hour weeks you pulled.)
this can be applied for people working in animation as well. Like I know people who work at Pixar and they straight up work 12 hour days and go into work on weekends to meet their deadlines. The incredibles 2 made over a billion dollars and Pixar still cut jobs due to ābudgetā. The entertainment industry is a business at the end of the day. There here to make money and they are going to do it at the expense of workers because they know no one is going to do anything about it.
I think Iāve shared this before, but itās been a while.
Itās also worth noting this is why seasons of stuff like British TV shows are so short⦠because there actually are protections there keeping you from working people like that.
why do you and others like vaccines so much?
not dying of preventable diseases is actually one of my favorite hobbies
