Seeing through stupidity

- Communication doesn’t work on bullies. Telling a bully they’re making you feel bad is the wrong way to go. They want to make you feel bad. That’s the point.

- being kind to a bully doesn’t always mean they’ll stop. Sometimes it means they’ll just use your kindness to manipulate you while still continuing to bully you.

- not every bully has a sympathetically tragic home life. Sometimes people are just mean. Sometimes people just get off on hurting others.

- on that note, a tough home life is a reason, not an excuse. You don’t have to put up with bullying because somebody’s life sucks, just like you don’t have to let someone mug you because they’re broke.

- in order to forgive someone, they have to apologize first. If your bully has not apologized to you, you do not owe them anything.

- getting bullied as a kid can still mess you up in adult life. Maybe kids grow out of being bullies, but the marks they left often don’t go away.

- there are ways to get people to stop bullying you, but they almost all involve being mean back.

This Mary Cagle person is going on and on about how all the girls in Class 1A are fetish characters and that Momo is a fetish character as per the creator’s own words.

She doesn’t provide any source.  Does ANYONE have even one shred of evidence for this?  Because right now I’m like

And the “ prudish and body shaming“ redesign you’re so butthurt is this:  

Saying it’s a fetish thing is like saying girls going to the pool in a bikini, and a conservative bikini I might add, is them being fetishistic.  It isn’t.  Momo’s powers make sense with the design.

And yes, it’s body shaming.  If you looked at her twitter, then you know she reduces the bust of every single female character she redesigns.  Which is telling women with large breasts that there is something inherently WRONG with their appearance and/or with them showing off their body.

The outfit does not make sense from a logical point of view.  If Momo needs to create something big, she now has to create it from her back.  She can’t see, it’s hard to grasp and if it is big enough it can crush her underneath it.

The current design allows her, if needed, to simply open up her outfit and spill out whatever she needs to create.  It lets her grab whatever she needs from her chest easily.  It allows her more degrees of actual freedom.

The reason it’s prudish is because cleavage is not inherently fetishistic.  By saying so, you are the one who is prescribing an inordinate amount of weight to it.  

We live in a pretty great digital age and we have access to a ton of amazing tools that artists in past generations couldn’t even dream of, but a lot of people look at a cool trick and only learn half of the process of using it.

If the focus is the environment, you must show a person in relation to that environment.

The examples above are great because they show how to use the software itself, but each one just kind of “plops” the character in front of their finished product with no regard of the person’s relation to their environment.

This is a popular trick used by professional storyboard and comic artists alike when they’re quickly planning compositions. It’s simple and it requires you to do some planning before you sit down to crank out that polished, final version of your work, but it will be the difference between a background and an environment.

Even if your draftsmanship isn’t that great (like mine), people can be more immersed in the story you tell if you just make it feel like there is a world that exists completely separate from the one in which they currently reside – not just making a backdrop the characters stand in front of.

I’m a 3d artist and have been exploring the possibilities of using 3d as reference for 2d poses. I want to add a couple of tips and things!

Sketchup is very useful for environment references, and I assume it’s reasonably easy to learn. If you’re interested in going above and beyond, I highly recommend learning a proper 3d modeling program to help with art, especially because you can very easily populate a scene or location with characters!

Using 3ds Max I can pretty quickly construct an environment for reference. But going beyond that, I can also pose a pretty simple ‘CAT’ armature (known in 3d as a rig) straight into the scene, which can be totally customized, from various limbs, tails, wings, whatever, to proportions, and also can be modeled onto and expanded upon (for an example, you could 3d sculpt a head reference for your character and then attach it to the CAT rig, so you have a reference for complex face angles!)

The armature can also be posed incredibly easily. I know programs exist for stuff like this - Manga Studio, Design Doll - but posing characters in these programs is always an exercise in frustration and very fiddly imo. A simple 3d rig is impossibly easy to pose.

By creating an environment and dropping my character rig into it, I have an excellent point of reference when it comes to drawing the scene!

Not only that, but I can also view the scene from whatever angle I could ever want or need, including the character and their pose/position relative to the environment.

We can even quickly and easily expand this scene to include more characters!

You don’t have to do anything sexual that you’re not interested in. Moreover, you don’t have to explain why. “No” is a complete sentence.

To me you seem to be a very unpleasant person who doesn’t deserve the following you have been blessed with, who likes to bully artists who don’t draw fucking blackface. Because let’s fucking admit it, that’s what you want. Anyone slightly darker than #000000 is not acceptable in your eyes. Criticism is fine, but you are not acting in good faith, and have a pure intent on just destroying artists who don’t adhere to your dark skin fetish and your demands to undo “whitewashing” claims. * Just try and argue that feminists do try that, and I will laugh at you. There’s a popular website dedicated almost exclusively to mocking MRAs. Not talking to them. Mockery. Feminists have spent much more effort trying to silence and discredit MRAs IRL and online than talking to them, to the extent of breaking the law, repeatedly, as far back as the 70s. The very fact that these gifs incorrectly portray MRAs as all male, yet still have tens of thousands of agreeing notes, indicates quite a lack of even basic knowledge of who MRAs are, much less what they actually say.

I’m all about body positively, and since the fat acceptance movement is a massive part of that, I felt like it was time to take a look at it.

There’s a lot to love about FA- it teaches us to view people equally regardless of their size. It also challenges negative, offensive stereotypes and discourages bullying. It shows us that being fat isn’t a horrific thing.
