Not to be a bitch but sometimes people engage with fiction in the most boring way possible, and nowhere is this clearer than in videogames. Like what you mean you hate a character just because they were kind of abrasive when speaking to the player character? "They were mean to me" and it didn't occur to you to wonder why? Like, what might their attitude toward you reveal about the world? About the social dynamics within it? About their own perspectives and backgrounds and personalities? Does it even occur you to ask? Would you only have liked them if they bowed to your presence and talked about how great you are? Like I'm sorry but you're so boring. How boring fiction would be if it cathered to you

Okay, not to harp on the topic, but in MCU, also, it says a lot about who Tony is that before anything happened, Stane kept the weapons sales a secret from him in the first place, and went to such lengths to do so that he eventually decided to have him KILLED to stop him from finding out. It’s because Tony is an idealist, and he DOES care about who the weapons go to, even before he had his eyes opened about weapons manufacture in general. He believes what he’s saying about protecting US soldiers. Is that naive? Well, yeah. But Stane is keeping it from him because he knows Tony is an idealist, and that the argument of great profit won’t sway him because he’s a moral person and thinks the company should be moral as well. If Tony was really a bad person who would go for that, why wouldn’t Stane bring him in instead of TRYING TO HAVE HIM KILLED? He says himself he was worried offing Tony would stop the flow of inventions. He’s clearly set the whole thing up to have Tony murdered because he’s too idealistic to go along with what Stane wants.
There are two lines that stick with me re: that idealism. One is the Times article headline “Tony Stark wants to save the world” and his comment to Stane when he first finds out he might be dealing under the table: “there’s a line and we don’t cross it.” His goals don’t really change, but his *methods* do.
He realizes a lot of things he was wrong about or naive about and takes them to heart, and he’s taking full responsibility for it, too–he’s doing anything BUT trying to duck out from under it. But he does that at least partly because he is that idealist–and he always has been. He’s always had that line, that idea of morality that they have to hold to and he won’t budge from. And that’s why he was always going to be a threat to Stane.
It’s in there from the very beginning.
forever stewing over the fact that companions turning against hawke in the last straw have some of their best dialogue
anders (in response to mage hawke’s kirkwall is my home and i intend to protect it) “an apostate doesn’t have a home—just somewhere to hide” and fenris (in response to i’m not letting you kill us) “i’d be disappointed if you did” and merrill “magic can’t be made safe and it can’t be destroyed. fear makes men more dangerous than magic ever could” and aveline “you once saved me. i owe you a life, but this is the cost. whatever you become, whatever cause you claim or deny... you are nothing to me. goodbye, hawke. live as you choose”

Unblock me so our love can bloom
"theyll hate you for this" "but theyll be alive" is THE juiciest thing to me
i will ensure you stay alive above all else. even if what i do to make it happen is horrendous. even if it violates all your wishes or moral principles. even if you can never look at me the same way again, even if you hate me for it. because at least if you hate me it means youre alive

One of my favourite Unreliable Narrator moments to this day is in DA:I after the Blackwall reveal, Cullen's assessment of Leliana having the report on Renier but not saying anything is that she probably didn't connect the two people together because she's got a blind-spot for Wardens.
I understand why that's a reasonable assessment from him; Her history with the wardens is common in-world knowledge, the plot of Leliana's song is not. However from an outside perspective, I think it's far more likely Leliana did know, but that she has a soft spot for those seeking redemption from their past, given her own history.
It makes me smile every time I reach that point.
[recommending something i sincerely love] ok so the thing about it is it kinda sucks
steve saying "all i can think about is him" about tony as the world is ending in the literal multiversal apocalypse is so relatable because i too would obsess over tony stark until my very last breath on this earth

marvel comics is funny because even when iron man and captain america aren't on the avengers roster together, and no matter how a writer feels about them individually, they can't deny the place that steve and tony have in each other's canon. so you'll have normal things like steve showing up in iron man (2026) #1 and tony showing up in captain america (2025) #1 and then when the new 616-wide comic event kicks off and steve is in a coma, you have tony losing his mind at the hospital and even chip zdarsky who has historically been terrible at writing tony stark is having him say shit like "he's a hero dammit! more important than all of the avengers put together" "steve rogers the best man i know" "we'd all follow steve into hell and back" because the two of them being insane about each other is a fundamental pillar of the marvel universe, a load-bearing wall if you will
this is wrong
Yeah, she could’ve done this in her standard Sailor Moon form. Super form is overkill, really.
Sailor Moon is stronger than Goku. I don’t make the rules. Fight me about it.
What!? 👀
I’m on a still active forum, with a solid vs debate scene. Sailor Moon vs. the God-Emperor of Mankind from 40k is one of the most treasured threads there, as Sailor Moon trashed the guy.
19 pages straight of debate over Sailor Moon vs. God-Emperor of Mankind, in which every time a 40k fan desperately brings up a new point, it immediately gets negated by another one of Sailor Moon’s powers
She’s even got a motive: aliens destroyed the moon. Not THIS specific alien, but still. She will avenge it!
Gen alpha is so brainrotted because there’s too many satellites affecting their astrology. These babies got Starlink #637 in Pisces and BeiDou in Aries and ISS in Virgo and shit, its like spiritual microplastics
thinking about statues of Grace being built all around Erid years after his passing so he can continue to watch over Eridians as they sleep
