Every night, I put my four children to sleep not knowing if we’ll still have a roof over our heads tomorrow. I look at their little faces and wonder—how do I explain to them that we have nowhere to go? How can I ask them to survive the cold of the tent again, or the sound of drones hovering above? I’m a mother. All I want is to protect them.
We left the tent just a month ago, believing the nightmare was over. We rented this simple home with the hope of starting over. We built a routine. The kids started going to a temporary school. We painted the walls with colors of hope. But war doesn’t let go. Poverty is relentless. And fear returns with every passing day as the rent deadline approaches.
