SUSIE HAVING AN INCLINATION FOR MUSIC BUT THE OSTRACISATION SHE FACED JUST FOR TRYING TO HAVE SOME FUN WITH IT CAUSED HER TO APPROACH IT WITH DISDAIN FOR YEARS. SHE SMASHES THE PIANO THEY TOLD HER SHE COULDNT PLAY. SHE TELLS KRIS THAT A WEEK AGO THEIR PIANO SKILLS WOULDVE BEEN ANOTHER THING FOR HER TO HATE ABOUT THEM.
Do NOT think about how both her drum and guitar performances in chapter 3/4 are done in the company of friends. dont even THINK about it.
Like there’s no way we arent gonna get susie playing piano in a future chapter right. I’m so fucking excited. I want her to reclaim that experience for herself. No one can tell her she can’t be here, that she isnt good enough. Never again.
I feel like there's an important and beautiful lesson in all this that creatives can take to heart: If you want to go about learning or improving at a skill, the most important step you can take is the first. Play the instrument. Draw the thing. Play around. Have fun. I guarantee you that most any musician or artist who's been learning since the moment they could pick up a pencil or press down on a piano key did not initially have the notion that they'd have to put themselves through years of rigorous training to be classified as anything resembling good, they just wanted to put something out. to play around with their medium. be themselves
Not only that, but you have to let yourself take up space. Be as bold and brash and unapologetically yourself about it as you want. This is your love, your passion, and nobody can take that away from you.
