What are some folks' experiences with regard to part names? Parts that came with names of their own, parts without names, parts named by other parts. Is there a "healthy" or "unhealthy" way to go about it?

I will always remember that twice a week, around the kitchen table, my sister would sit down with my dad for hours, and they would try to work out her math homework. I should mention that my dad is an artist, and art teacher. Truth be told I think he struggled with math just as much if not more then she did. But twice a week you could hear them downstairs, going back and forth, trying to figure it out together. Some nights would be smooth and easy, some nights I could hear them arguing from one floor up about factors or equations, not in anger but in mutual frustration.

I remember the day that she passed. My sister couldn’t wait until my dad’s school day ended, so she called him at work. She gleefully announced to him “I got a D-!”. We could hear him through the phone as he exclaimed “She got a D!” excitedly to his class. Still through the phone we heard his students clapping, laughing and whooping in congratulations. Seldom has a grade in our household been so celebrated.

I feel that to be honest and to be honest it is pretty similar myself to how I see things. I’ve intentionally been a bit quiet about that sort of stuff since I’ve lived like 10-12 years since I split (depending on if you count the time when I was more of a fragment) and I’ve been host for about 4 years and have since really developed myself separately from my source.

It becomes a bit offensive in a way sometimes when it feels the moment I state I am a fictive that people entirely forget that I’ve been a breathing real person for literally a decade and just focus on the roots I came from 10+ years ago. Like come on, don’t just act in a way that erases all of my own personal identity in place of my source. I find great comfort in my source and to those that I know understand that it is context to who I was and how I became who I am, I enjoy talking about it like someone would enjoy reminiscing on their own past to close friends; but it can just be pretty unnerving to have that sense of personal information and intimacy breached by someone going “Hey I know your whole backstory and I think I know you!” in any form.

If people say “hey I like to interact with my source’s fandom / introjects / whatever” because that helps them, I’m not gonna say that’s bad or anything and do what you do that helps you heal now, but I’d really appreciate of Tumblr stopped assuming that was the defacto and default state a lot of introjects are coming from.
