I always liked the Beatles songs I heard on the radio, but I didn't get into the Beatles (or learn to tell them apart!) until last year. I watched Get Back and found their interpersonal dynamics so intriguing I wanted to learn more. Then I started to really like Paul, to become intrigued by mclennon, and then all of them. I can't actually pick a favorite Beatle, they're all so interesting!!

last year i wanted a hobby that's not on my phone -> decide to learn electric bass -> doing james jamerson research -> paul mccartney mention? -> paul mccartney is a bass player? -> beatles are a rock band? -> ao3 will certainly give me the info i need delivered in a way i enjoy -> whoops

I can't really remember, they just appeared one day and didn't leave. Much like Beatlemania, it all happened so fast. I don't know how it began, but I know that I'm here.

I suppose it began with the music, I always enjoyed their Edwardian ditties. But I didn't really know their names, faces, or personalities until 2025 when my friend started sending me Beatles memes. Then, in the summer, I decided to look on AO3, to see what the fandom thought about the band members... And now I'm here.

i was exposed to the beatles several times before i got into them, actually. first, when i was younger i heard a cover of norwegian wood and got obsessed! i didn’t actually like the original tho lmao, just the cover (that has now DEFINITELY changed)

(also heard paul mccartney mentioned in that one lesbian song. i thought he was just a random old white guy tbh)

then, my marching band director had us play a mashup of magical mystery tour and lady madonna! i reallyyyy loved lady madonna, so i listened to that on repeat for several hours… eventually, i randomly decided to listen to a day in the life (can’t remember why) and i fell in love!

now i write fanfiction about the bassist getting teenage pregnant, so i guess u never really know what’s gonna happen when u start liking something 😭

i got into the beatles when i needed a college extracurricular for an easy A in 2023, so I looked at random courses, and decided to take one called Music of the Beatles! before that i had never thought of or cared about the Beatles, i obviously knew the big songs, but starting the class i actually couldn’t name any Beatle other than John (lol), i had never even heard of George or Ringo before, and i knew of ‘Paul McCartney’ but couldn’t have told you he was a Beatle or anything about him with a gun to my head. the professor was so great and the class was so fun, i got a vibe about John/Paul from what i learned in the class so i went on ao3 one day and the rest is history. Mclennon and the Beatles have changed my life so much and it’s my favorite hyperfixation I’ve ever had :) this is a wonderful talented community i’m so proud to be a part of!
