do you know how heather is doing now? i don't wanna be invasive especially since it seems she eschews public attention the most, but i hope she's doing well! the last i recall of her was her pottery a few decades back.

i also always thought it was interesting that mary and stella seem to be most comfortable accompanying paul in his public and press things. i certainly don't blame the others though, i would not wanna deal with the celebrity myself

(Especially when you're the child who is actually older than the wife with whom you share a name... lol.)

I haven't seen new pictures of Heather for years - 10 years, maybe longer - but she looked well and was apparently visiting her dad at Cavendish, giving him a kiss and wearing a t-shirt for (iirc) a punk band. Paul seems to have figured out some way of mostly ensuring that, if his kids haven't chosen a public life, they don't get papped very often and are quite well protected from the spotlight as they do their own thing. That's certainly true of Heather and B, and James has availed himself of that during some periods of his life as well.

Mary and Stella have chosen career paths where having a public presence is not only helpful but, in some respects, necessary. (James, too, but he's kind of vacillated as to how hard he's pursuing his music and how much public exposure he actually wants - which is fair.) And it seems like they have more extroverted personalities that make that both easier and more appealing. I think it's really lovely that Paul has always provided his adult kids with the level of support they want/need in their endeavors. He'll always show up for Mary and Stella, he'll work behind the scenes with James (and try to turn up in a more low-key way that doesn't do more harm than good), he'll literally hold Heather's hand and make her laugh through an entire promotional cycle. It's all very dependent on what will actually help that particular child and, as you can see with James, Paul will back off or do more as circumstances and James's feelings change. And if you don't want to put yourself out there like that or if you change your mind and want to retreat, he'll do whatever he can to insulate you.

yay, I'd love to see more stuff about Nancy on my dash tbh!! okay here's what I can remember, and he probably has said this all elsewhere so sorry if it's all old news:

During the Life Can Be Hard chat he told the story about how he came up with the tune while he and Nancy were staying with her niece who had a baby, and Nancy would want to wake the baby in the morning and then Paul would play what would become LCBH. I know he's definitely told this one before but it's so sweet 😭

During Mountain Top he spoke about how Nancy's a really big fan of live music and loves going to festivals, and how these days it's often her who suggests what they should do to and puts him on to new things.

My favourite was during the Never Know section, he talked about how Nancy's a big fan of the Laurel Canyon music scene and how she did a tour round where some of those musicians lived, to which Rob asked if Paul went as well, and Paul was basically just like... no lmao. Then they were joking that it would be mad to be on a bus tour and not paying attention to anything because Paul McCartney's there. I don't know if actually was a bus tour, because that seems like a weird thing for Nancy to do but maybe it was before they were together, who knows! Anyway, what is actually got me thinking about (along with her enjoying live music so much) is the parallel with Linda being a huge rock fan before she met Paul, and that being one of the things that attracted him to her.

ALSO every time he spoke about Nancy he was like 'Nancy, my wife' or 'My wife, Nancy' as if we were going to forget haha, or maybe he just really loves telling people that Nancy's his wife!!! (which fair, I would too).

The crowd just started at them like caged animals. 😭
