Linda actually wore two first! As far as I can tell. The earliest example I could find of Linda wearing two bands was in 1988, and Paul seems to have worn two as early as 1996.

Which could mean truly anything. Maybe they're honoring previous marriages/pseudo-marriages, maybe they renewed their vows, or maybe they're poly(gamists). Maybe they each have completely different symbolic or aesthetic reasons for doing this. Idk, but I'm nosy.

Paul seems to have worn his two wedding bands from 1996ish, through Linda's passing, up until his marriage to Heather.

And by "up until his marriage to Heather" I mean he was wearing those rings a week before the wedding in June 2002.

Paul did in fact Literally keep those rings on until the day he married HM, because he was completely fine and totally ready to move on and that's what that looks like. Admittedly, I did not do a super thorough check just now, nor did I go through, like, the Getty video, but Perhaps Noteworthy is that, the day before the wedding, in an effort to satiate the press, Paul and HM went out for basically a photo call and Paul has his left hand jammed in his pocket in every single picture I could find. And I'm pretty sure that's because, on some level (and I would not blame HM if she had a row with him about this), he is aware that it is Insane and maybe Not The Best Look if he's still wearing Linda's rings less than 24 hours before he's supposed to be happily marrying someone else.

When he and HM split, I had a moment of terror where I thought maybe Linda's rings would come back - but instead it was just the disorienting sight of contemporary Paul with NO wedding ring, until Nancy restored balance to the universe on 9 October 2011, lol.

"Giggle?" He pondered it. "No. It's hysterics, we call it. It sounds like giggling to people, but it's leading up to hysterics. I laugh when I'm not serious. Right now I'm serious."

At this moment, to my relief, Paul strolled in. He was immaculately combed and groomed, with white shirt, black suit, black tie, even cufflinks. But he wore beach sandals on his bare feet.

John looked Paul up and down blandly, and said, "You got to wear socks."

Paul sat down, his handsome, cherub face genuinely disturbed. It was as though John were his elder brother, and bothersome. "Do I need socks?" he said. "What's wrong with no socks?"

He went out to put on socks.

But I’m still stuck on that opening phrase because…what? I am so confused by how people view interactions on tumblr & AO3 these days. Let me make it very clear for anyone who is unsure:

CREATORS WANT YOU TO INTERACT WITH THEIR WORK.

The limit does not exist on how many of their works you can interact with in a certain period.

If you like every fic they’ve ever written? Then feel free to give them all kudos and even leave a comment on every single one if you feel inclined! If you’re going through someone’s blog and you vibe with every post, like/reblog to your heart’s content!

As long as you’re not expecting something back from them or adding a ton of irrelevant comments, it’s not spam! It’s what this is all about!! I’m not even much of a creator and I still feel a huge sense of pride when I see a ton of notifications in a row from a person, as it clearly shows they thought my blog was worth spending time on.
