'John and Paul would write the songs at the beginning, then George started, and then I joined in. I remember ending up in the studio for hours and hours in the end. It was good, but I was the first person ever to put a back on a drum stool, so that I could just lean back a little. 'Paul and me. Timer shots are always weird because you don't know when it's going to go. When you're in hotels, you just look for things to do and have a bit of fun. The Beatles only ever had two rooms in a hotel; we'd always share. That's when you really get to know each other, when you're hanging out in the same room.'

An extraordinary Acheulean handaxe knapped around a fossil shell circa 500,000-300,000 years ago.

The maker appears to have deliberately flaked around the shell to preserve and place it in a central position. As a result this handaxe has been described as an early example of artistic thought.
