THE VAMPIRE LESTAT: AFTER DARK | 1.04 | “After The Devil's Road”
Devil's minion
i've been told there's a repost of this silly old comic going around so here's the real one
HASHTAG NEVER KILL YOURSELDF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jacob, Assad, ...and their granddad Eric.
Tell me a bit about working with your co-stars. You have Sam Reid, then you’ve got Eric Bogosian who–has been in everything! And those are the two people you’re opposite the most, so what are they like, working with? JACOB: Eric is amazing. Eric [...] will throw out these flippant references and allusions to things he’s done and you’re like yeah, I know what Talk Radio is, Eric! (Laughs) And he’s just so casual about it! He’s just one of those people that has a story for everything. He’s met everyone. There’s a Basquiat in one of the rooms in the show, and on Eric’s first day he came and sat down on the sofa and just went, “Oh, I met him! I met Basquiat. Yeah, he was a cool guy. I was hanging out with Debbie Harry and Basquiat in New York–and they couldn’t keep up with me, those kids–” and you’re like, who is this!? What’s going on? It’s so surreal, so bizarre, he’s like a real-life vampire. But he’s just very charming and brilliant, and I love him. And he’s kind of like, a surrogate father-slash-grandfather. Let’s say father—let’s be kind.
(from Keep It Podcast)
Tell me about filming the bowling-alley altercation [...], when Eric Bogosian is ripping into you [...] I don't know how you kept it together. ASSAD: Eric is so good at it. He has this rhythm. It was easy for me to keep it together because I love watching him when he gets those especially-Molloy speeches. [...] Molloy has this ability to take the lore of vampires and dilute it into its purest form and spit it back out, and that's what he does in the absent-father monologue. It's so good. I had to be very aware of not picking him up and hugging him every opportunity that I got. Are you normally picking him up and hugging him every opportunity you get? Yeah, every time I see him. (Laughs) That was our first day on set in Toronto. I absolutely adore that man. He's like the grandfather I wish I had. I never knew my granddad, and Eric came into my life at a moment where maybe I was searching for a figure like that. He feels like a safe space. If I haven't seen him for a while and I see him again, my instinct is to go and bear-hug my granddad.

#Make Racists Scared Again 2026
Share if you want people to know they should be scared to be racist around you 👊🏾
"making them afraid will make them more racist" that's wild to me, because we live in a whole culture of social consequences for antiracism anyway. It is literally safer to be a racist than it is to speak up against it, socially.
Idk about you, but "I'm afraid no one will want to be my friend if I'm a white supremacist" seems like a pretty logical thought process to have, and I wish THAT were the normal and not "I'm afraid my friends will hate me if I tell them they made racist jokes".
sometimes racists aren’t even aware that they’re racist tho
I had a more intellectual answer for you, but tbh... Then I guess they'll find out. And when they do, they have two options: apologize and actively commit to doing better, or understand that they are choosing racism and will be treated as such. Because the society we live in, somehow option number 2 is the easier route due to a lack of social consequences for being a bigot. I don't think choosing to be a bigot should be the easier route. It should suck to be a racist.

if I see one more "why age verification is bad" post that doesn't even bother to mention that locking young people out of huge sections of the public sphere - literally the stated goal and primary impact of this shit - is wrong in and of itself I will simply start hitting people with bricks
yes yes biometric data privacy blah blah adults can hypothetically by harmed by this too. what about the immediate and deliberate and not at all hypothetical harm to youth. why are you acting like a potential data leak about what your face looks like, which if it ever happened would at least be generally recognised as a problem, is a more serious issue than cutting millions of people off from information and community and public expression which is happening right now in the open with large scale support
it's got the stench of fucking "banned books week" on it. thousands of adults congratulating themselves for reading books literally no one is trying to stop them from reading while doing nothing to improve access for the young people who are the ones actually having those books made off-limits to them.
Age verification is bad because the internet is how we communicate in the modern world, and young people deserve the right to communicate just as adults do.
And because there is no "young people on the internet" problem that couldn't be solved by educating and materially empowering young people.
Also this explicitly includes neurodivergent young people, Mad young people, and "anti-recovery" young people.
Queer people who are still inexplicably pro-psychiatry and anti-youthlib will sometimes "compromise" like "Sometimes young people having internet privacy is Good, like when queer kids with unsupportive parents discover queer positivity and sex ed, but sometimes young people having internet privacy is Bad, like when Mentally Ill™️ kids whose parents are trying to Get Them Help discover Anti-Recovery!" and no, that one is also Good. Kids need to learn how to discreetly flush their risperdol just as much as they need to learn how to access condoms and binders.
