anyway you know the whole do or do not, there is no try as it applies to jedi philosophy. it’s not about not trying, it’s about how if you think you’re going to fail before you even start, you will fail, and that could play into how obi-wan never thought he was the right person to be anakin’s master but he determined he had to be because there was no one else.
and in the end, obi-wan did the best anyone could have, given everything he was up against palps when i get my hands on you 😭 but he still failed 😭 and i wonder if he blames himself, wonders if it was his doubt in himself that caused him to fail anakin so badly. maybe maybe maybe, maybe if he'd done this or done that - and
in the end. it's obi-wan alone in his cave on tatooine with nothing but sand and his own swirling thoughts, running over every detail as he tries to shoulder the weight of the universe.
this is all in his head ofc, obi-wan literally did his best and loved anakin so much but sometimes love isn't enough. and anakin made his own choices, chose to value padme's life over the lives of everyone else in the republic.
