I’m literally so floored by this whole situation with Melissa Barrera being fired from Scream 7 over her vocal support of Palestine on social media. Like, one of the most popular horror franchises just gave their new lead actress the boot because she dared to speak out against genocide?? How are we living in a world where this is happening?? How is ANYONE okay with making decisions like this, decisions that are effectively meant to scare people who have platforms to amplify their voices into silence over fear of the retribution they might face for speaking up?? I hope others in the industry are willing to stand with Melissa and call out this bullshit, and I hope if the movie does get made it flops terribly, since the fanbase sure as hell won’t be supporting it.
