finding out that almost all other animals donât have periods like we do and instead simply reabsorb the egg back into their uterine lining to reuse the nutrients is like finding out the rest of the class has been taking WILDLY easier tests than you for the whole semester
like, hey, cat why donât you have to use your Cat Dollars to invest in tampons? And cat is just like: fuck that noise, my body is OPTIMAL for not being made of inconvenient nonsense, sucks to be you
wack.
humans: hey, bleeding every month is actually really cumbersome and I lose both valuable nutrients AND fluids I need for survival? What the fuck is up?
evolution: yes, alright, but have you considered this about it? *cartoon blow horn noise*Â
Human bodies suck for many reasons including but not limited to:
Periods
Bad backs
Permanent breasts that do not leave once baby is weaned
Dangerously large, unprotected, and non retractable male reproductive systems
Huge brain takes up way too much energy gotta eat more sleep less
Baby brain bigger than hips guess birth is life threatening now
Takes like 25 years for big brain to even finish maturing
â˘Teeth are critical to living, yet not designed to last more than a few years without constant intervention and upkeep, and donât grow back if this is not accomplished. Also, losing your teeth means the bones in your ear will shift, and your hearing will worsen.
â˘Breathing, eating, communication all from the same pathway, major choking hazard. Give me a dolphin style breathing tube.
â˘Most pleasurable nerve endings on the body locating on the filthiest parts of you, guarenteed spread of bacteria.
â˘knees and shoulders have almost zero capability to heal correctly, once they break, theyâre basically broken forever without massive outside influence.
Say what you will about âfriendsâ but all of the memes about how dumb and unrealistic it is have in-universe explanations
Monica can afford that giant apartment in manhattan on a chefâs salary because sheâs living there illegally, it was her grandmotherâs rent-controlled apartment and the landlord doesnât know her grandmother doesnât live there anymore
Rachel isnât fired from the coffee shop despite being overtly terrible at her job because her boss has a crush on her
They hang out with Ross because heâs Monicaâs brother and they have to
What was the explanation for why it wasnât funny
theyâre new yorkers
Constantly torn between âmy sexuality is none of your businessâ and âlmao I hope they donât think Iâm straight god forbidâ
Cultivate a style that screams ânot straightâ but still makes people wonder what the hell you are

Knives Out hints at the self-righteous Thrombeysâ racist views of Latino people and immigrants in general well before they target Marta and threaten to have her mother detained. In the filmâs early flashbacks, the Thrombeys each referred to Martaâs country of origin as a different place. To one, she was a lovely young woman from Ecuador; to another, Marta hailed from Paraguay. Their cluelessness is played for comedic relief as the filmâs tension builds, and Johnsonâs message is clear: The Thrombeysâ ignorance is the joke, not Martaâs heritage.
âI think sheâs incredible and she is the baddest bitch of them all. And I always got her back.â

The Good Place really said âPeople improve when they get external love and support. How can we hold it against them, when they donât?â and "We choose to be good because of our bonds with other people" and "What matters isnât if people are good or bad. What matters is if theyâre trying to be better today than they were yesterday" and "If soulmates do exist, they aren't found, they're made" and "That knowledge [that life ends] is what gives life meaning" and "The answer is friends" and "Thatâs what the Good Place really is â itâs not even a place, really. Itâs just having enough time with the people you love" and I think that's very sexy of them
I canât help but think how much Taylor struggled both physically and mentally during the 1989 era. Yet every single night on that tour, she gave a speech before clean and reminded us of our worth. We are not our mistakes or damaged goods. We are not the opinion of somebody who doesnât know you or care about you. How all of these things donât make us damaged, but they make us clean. It hits differently now because just as Taylor said we survived a bunch of rainstorms and kept walking, she was going through her own rainstorm too. I canât help but think the things she was saying to all of us, she needed to hear them too.
a good take
âI wrote it after the midterm elections, when there were so many young people who rallied for their candidate, whether it was a senator or congressman or congresswoman. It was hard to see so many people feel like they had canvassed and done everything and tried so hard. I saw a lot of young peopleâs hopes dashed. And I found that to be particularly tragic, because young people are the people who feel the worst effects of gun violence, and student loans and trying to figure out how to start their lives and how to pay their bills, and climate change, and are we going to war â all these horrific situations that we find ourselves facing right now.â
â Taylor to Variety on Only the Young, which will accompany the documentary (x)
I donât think The Good Place gets enough credit for the diversity of its cast. The main romantic lead is a black man from Senegal who is allowed to be as nerdy as he wants. In fact, his nerdiness is the saving grace of the main character. The character that is often considered to be the pinnacle of beauty on the show is a woman of Indian descent who is not super light skinned. Another character is a Filipino man who, while incredibly stupid, can be incredibly perceptive and offers loving emotional advice and is described as incredibly sexually-desirable. The all-knowing judge on the show, considered to be the most powerful character as of the season three finale, is a black woman. The main character is canonically sexually attracted to both men and women and (while it hasnât been canonically confirmed yet) is probably at the very least bisexual, if not pansexual. She also regularly talks about how she loved to sleep around and is never slut-shamed for either her sexuality or her fondness for sex. And thatâs just in the core cast. Thereâs also a black female neuroscientist who gets several episode long arcs in both season 3 and (about to be) season 4. Not to mention the supporting cast and guest characters feature several people of color, while the main villains are mostly old, white men.
And all of these characters are actual characters! Even the small parts where a side character may only be in an episode or two results in really developed and fleshed out characterizations. Also, the characterizations donât fall into the trap of stereotypes to make them more likeable!!
But while all of this diversity is amazing, the show also manages to make it feel organic. Thereâs no tokenism or show-boating. Itâs never a âlook, the main love interest is a black man!!!!! Weâre so woke!!!!!!!â. Itâs genuine diversity built from a place of love and understanding and idk, I just think that the show deserves a lot of credit for taking such an amazing concept and using it to build such a diverse world with such in depth characters. Itâs a nice change.
Not to mention itâs a philosophical masterpiece thatâs obviously written by philosophy and ethics enthusiasts, and has some deep philosophy jokes that youâll only get after studying philosophy⌠which youâll probably want to do after watching The Good Place.
And all of this stuff is mainly discussed by the aforementioned POC in the show.
Thereâs a female lead, sure, but instead of being the often annoying âwhite saviorâ the show flips that trope around (or throws it out I canât decide which is more apt) and makes her into the audience surrogate. Sheâs the âwhite studentâ if you will, who is learning how to be a better person from a black man.
Go watch The Good Place dammit. Itâs great, AND itâs a philosophical masterpiece.
There are some very self-aware moments about their casting policies, but instead of being preachy, theyâre hilarious. Like this one:Â

Hunter Schafer Discusses Euphoria.
me: I really like history
what some ppl think I mean, and understandably so: eheheh I like military history
what I mean: people are and have always been fucking crazy and it's very entertaining to find out what they were up to. it's like drama but like three centuries old.
On our first date my bf said he really liked history and immediately I was like âoh, ok so now Iâm gonna have to listen to WWII facts foreverâ but no he ended up going on a tangent about the evolution of language and how heâs trying to learn a dead language that Duolingo offers and damn if that wasnât an extremely pleasant surprise
YEAH THATS THE SHIT
