So like an hour ago I just learπͺ¨οΈ΅οΈ΅ned thatβ what the fuck was that. Someone just skipped a rock across my post did you see that
why is fandom less fun when black ppl or aro ppl or trans ppl tell you to check your biases. if its 'just a headcanon' why is it such a big deal that ppl ask you to think about why you made it
why do you never engage with black characters, why do you always think the same type of character is transmasc/fem, why do you only find romance interesting to the point of ignoring plotlines so you can create ships
are we actually just being the fun police or are you just being a bigot. why is pretending we dont exist necessary for your enjoyment
Do you think Zeus feels left out because he didnβt get to bond with his siblings in their dads stomach
Do you think like Demeter and Poseidon are ever like βoh you wouldnβt get it, itβs a dads-stomach thingβ
Do we think Hestia ever looks at him and tells Hera she should have married the rock instead
@shadow-pancake9
Omphalos is everyone's favourite sibling and it's not even close
My woke take, as someone who has worked in both a public library and a school library, is that we desperately need both more books that are at a higher reading level but a less mature subject matter, and more books that are at a lower reading level but a more mature subject matter, because 8 year olds who are advanced readers are still 8 year olds and don't want to read about graphic violence and torture, and teens and adults who have learning difficulties or who are just later readers for whatever reason are still teens and adults and don't want to read about Billy the Bunny going to school or whatever the hell.
Shoutout to people in the notes also mentioning people learning the language, I should've mentioned that really, given that I've been stuck reading German picture books myself while learning German.

nothing will ever live up to the moment when after devouring over 250 pages deeply immersed in the characters and story and after the emotions of the proposal I reached the very end of the letter that turns everything on its head only to find out that Mr Darcy's name is Fitzwilliam
One interesting thing about Mrs. Bennet is that she's learned nothing from her experience in marriage, or alternatively, she thinks that despite her husband's inattention and mistreatment of her, her daughters should follow her example. She doesn't seem to care at all about compatibility. She doesn't consider which daughter would suit Mr. Collins, she just shoves him on the next one in line, who is the least suited to his personality, except maybe Lydia. She doesn't ever talk about the character of prospects, only their wealth. She goes from hatred of Darcy to immediately praising him and Elizabeth on her acquisition of wealth. Not even a thought about if Elizabeth likes him or not.
I think this is why she remains a largely unsympathetic character. Mr. Bennet understands that he's in a loveless marriage and he wants to save at least his favourite child from the same fate. Mrs. Bennet seems to genuinely believe that as long as her daughers have money, they'll be fine.
She seems to have accepted a marriage of very little affection for money and she encourages her daughters to do the same.
What Elizabeth says:
Elizabeth Bennet: I like going to this specific place at this specific time to wander around a bit-I am telling you so that you get the message and start avoid this specific place when I am walking, since coming out and asking you to get out of my way would be extremely rude.
What Mr Darcy hears:
Elizabeth Bennet: *twirling her hair* if you want to meet and walk together in a Regency proto-version of a date you just have to come at this specific place at this specific time! You will find me! I am telling you so that you get the message and start putting the moves on me, since coming out and telling you that I am interested would be extremely forward!
Mary Bennet lovers: She's so neglected and ignored by her whole family!
the actual novel
Jane, Elizabeth, Kitty, & Lydia: Hey Mary, want to come with us?
Mary: No, and it's stupid that you want to go at all.

When lizzie bennet said βthere are few people whom I really love, and still fewer of whom I think wellβ I felt that. She was being a bitch but I felt that.

if George Wickham lived today he would use his career as an influencer to peddle some kind of scammy MLM scheme and end up going to prison for wire fraud, having a Netflix documentary made about him, and a bunch of people would propose to him via letter in jail
