Ayano Kaneko's "Hana Hiraku Made" (Until Flowers Bloom) off of Sansan (燦々)

秋口みたいな春のはじめ
The beginning of a spring that feels like fall's entrance
Kanji
秋・あき Autumn
口・くち Mouth
秋口・あきぐち Beginning of Autumn
春・はる Spring
Grammar
みたいな is used to compare two things, it creates a simile in the same way that "like" or "as" does in English
Here it is being used like an adjective (note the な ending) to attach to a noun, but it can also be an adverb with the に particle or just closed off as a sentence itself with だ
な Example: りんごみたいな頬 Cheeks like apples 彼みたいな人 A person like him
に Example: ジョン・レノンみたいに歌う To sing like John Lennon
だ Example: 夢みたいだ It's like a dream 笑っているみたいだ (It) looks like (it's) laughing

曇ってばかり
It only gets cloudy
Kanji
曇 ・くもり Cloudy (in the て form of 曇る here)
Note: 曇 is mainly just used for the verb 曇る (to become cloudy) whereas 雲・くも is used for clouds
Grammar
(VerbてForm) + ばかり To do nothing but (verb)
Link to in depth explanation by JLPT Sensei
ばかり is used in a lot of other grammatical patterns, look at the "Related JLPT Grammar" section for more some examples
今夜も一歩踏み出すには星が足りない
There aren't enough stars to take one more step out tonight
Kanji
今夜・こんや Tonight
一歩・いっぽ A step
踏(む)・ふ(む) To step
出(す)・だ(す) To exit
星・ほし Star
足(りる)・た(りる) To be sufficient
Grammar
踏み出す (to step out) is a compound word of 踏む (to step) and 出す (to exit)
(VerbStem) + 出す is used to create a lot of compound words to express either the start of the verb occurring or an outwards movement
Examples: 思い出す To recall (bringing out a memory) 逃げ出す To run away 降り出す To begin to rain
List of words ending in 出す
NoteI originally wrote out the translation as "Tonight I'll take another step. There aren't enough stars to step out to." but I think that's a bit too clunky
君の帰りをいつもの椅子に腰掛けて待つので精一杯
With all my strength, I sit in the same chair I always do to wait for your return
Kanji
君・きみ You (can be used to express either intimacy or condescension, in this case intimacy)
帰(り)・かえ(り) Return, verb stem or nominalization of 帰る to return
椅子・いす Chair
腰・こし Waist
掛(ける)・か(ける) To put on, 掛ける is a verb that gets used in a lot of ways for example pouring sauce on something (ソースを掛ける) or putting on a hat (帽子を掛ける)
腰掛(ける)・こしか(ける) To sit down
待(つ)・ま(つ) To wait
精・せい Spirit or energy (also the kanji used in 精液 semen but that's unrelated here)
一・いち One
杯・はい Counter for cupfuls
一杯・いっぱい One cup, or to be full to the brim
精一杯・せいいっぱい Best effort, more literally full of spirit (often can mean "all one can do")
Grammar
いつも follows the grammatical structure that turns an indefinite pronoun (question word) into non-assertive form (any-) by adding the も particle
いつ(when, usually regarding days rather than hours) + も = いつも Any time, forever, always
Note
The "待つので精一杯" really tripped me up here. Usually seeing ので after a verb indicates an explanation. However, that didn't really seem to make sense here (it would work as "Because I'm always waiting in this chair, I'll try my best" which didn't seem smooth). Instead, I'm guessing the の and で are two separate particles. The の being a nominalizer for the verb 待つ and で functioning as a conjunctive to bridge both parts of the sentence.
空きかけの缶ジュースのまわり反射するアルミ朝日で綺麗
The rim of a half empty can of juice. The aluminum is beautiful reflecting the morning sun.
Kanji
空・そら Sky
空(き)・あ(き) Emptiness, verb stem or nominalization of 空くto be emptied
缶・かん Can, tin
反射・はんしゃ Reflection or reverberation, in verb form here as 反射する to reflect or reverberate
朝・あさ Morning
日・ひ Sun
朝日・あさひ Morning sun, also the name of my favorite beer
綺麗・きれい Beauty, usually seen in な adjective form as 綺麗な Pretty or beautiful
Grammar
Verb Stem + かけ(る to leave as verb/の to attach to nouns) indicates unfinished action
In lyric: 空きかけの缶 Somewhat emptied can
Noun Example: 飲みかけのビール Half-drank beer
Verb Example: 読みかけたけどつまらない I started reading it, but it's boring
背中から腕を回して
I wrap my arms around my back
Kanji
背中・せなか Back
腕・うで Arm
回・かい Counter for occurrences (how many times something happens), around, circumference
回す・まわす To turn, to circulate, to surround
Grammar
Going into real basics here but the 〜て verb ending here is conjunctive, implies a 〜てから which describes the order of actions
That being said this could also be implying a 〜てください which forms a request. With that in mind this line could be read as "Wrap your arms around my back"/"Wrap my arms around your back"
I chose the former because it fits into the loneliness of waiting for someone that the rest of the song depicts, but I could fully be wrong about this
石ころの数かぞえるみたく少しづつ指を動かす
Little by little, I move my fingers as if counting out pebbles
Kanji
石・いし Rock
石ころ・いしころ Small rock, pebble
数・かず Number
少し・すこし A little
少しづつ・すこしづつ Little by little (often written as 少しずつ)
指・ゆび Finger
動かす・うごかす To move (something)
Grammar
〜みたく here is the continuative form of the 〜みたい discussed earlier, the same as 〜みたいに but treats the みたい as an い adjective rather than a な adjective
い adjectives conjugate similarly to verbs while な adjectives conjugate similarly to nouns
動かす is a transitive verb with an intransitive counterpart 動く
Transitive verbs describe a verb being done to an object, typically paired with the を particle
Intransitive verbs describe a verb happening by the object, typically paired with the が particle
Transitive: 猫を動かす= (I) move the cat
Intransitive: 猫が動く= The cat moves

Note
The verb かぞえる (To count) can be written with kanji as 数える which uses the same character as 数 (Number) so that part of this line could be written as 「数数える」 . Good example for when its appropriate to switch to hiragana for the sake of readability.
咲くのに時間がかかってる
There will be a bloom, but it takes time
Kanji
咲く・さく To bloom, to open
時・とき Time
間・あいだ Interval, space between things, negative space
時間・じかん Time, hour
Grammar
〜のに is used in the same way as however, but, or even though

Comparison between のに vs けど vs が
Note
Not entirely sure if the 〜のに is being used as the above grammatical pattern, or if の is nominalizing さく and に is a particle specifying that the verb is happening at the point of the noun following it. This would translate the line closer to "the hour of bloom approaches."
The verb 咲くis synonymous to the verb ひらく(開く) used in the title, both meaning to bloom. From what I understand, 咲く is more specifically for blooming while 開くis closer to unsealing.
Left is the historical script form of 開 Right is the historical script form of 咲 which 笑 (わらい to laugh) is derived from. I think its very cute that blooming and laughter are from the same root character. Note that 開 appears to be two hands reaching to open a door.
チューリップ眺めて温かいお茶をすするのです
So I'll watch the tulips and sip warm tea.
Kanji
眺(める)・なが(める) To gaze upon, to look at
温かい・あたたかい
お茶・おちゃ
Grammar
The の before the です adds a slight emphasis. This is used a lot of times to give an explanatory tone, like responding to a question. In this case it's explaining why the speaker is drinking tea and watching tulips (because the speaker is waiting for the bloom)

That's all! I'm sure there are plenty of errors here but this was the best I got. I'm going to try to see if I can do these notes for all of 燦々. A couple summers ago I got into a kick of working on translations for a few songs off of this album in my notebook and it was pretty good practice so might as well try again.
