So I decided to play around with some old photos of mine, which translated into this double exposure of my boyfriend. I think the result turned out to be quite nice.

The words among us
Lately I've developed quite the taste for typography, a trend that seems to be all the rage these days. This newly found passion of mine began after watching the quite brilliant movie Helvetica, and my interest has somewhat grown in size since then, into something that kinda stays with me most of the time. Whenever I read a book, browse the web or for that matter when I interact with most other everyday objects, I'm confronted with text all the time. But text cannot just materialize on its own, it has to inherently have some kind of vessel, a styling, which is where typography become relevant.
We live in a digital age, where handwriting is becoming more and more infrequent, but that doesn't mean a decrease in written communication, actually the opposite seems to be the case. Most people don't think about the fact, that every single time you enter a letter in a computer, the representation of that letter has been sculptured with a vision by a person or a team, in order to become one coherent font with a unique signal value. As humans we perceive the world with a different set of esthetics, whereby we find some tings visually stimulating and others disturbing and unnerving, it's all part of we essentially are. So when we're confronted by these representations of words, the fonts that all digital text must obey to, our emotions are subconsciously provoked, in order for us to interact with this basic visual stimuli. This is why we perceive some texts as professional looking, as where we can find others to look dull and plain.
What's interesting about this fact, is that perhaps without knowing so, we get curtain feelings associated with the person who created the said block of text, all that before actually reading into the content of the text. What's even more interesting, is that these associations are based upon other people's esthetic visions. With a handwritten note, you can't hide behind a fixed set of esthetics, but you're forced to show just a little bit of yourself in the psychical representation of your words too. My point with all of these above ramblings, is that, as I get a better understanding of the story and ideas behind the typographies surrounding my everyday life, I can ultimately learn to decode some of the many hidden subtexts present in the texts I read on a daily basis.
And would you just look at that, my very first real blog entry, and all this presented to you my dear reader in 16 px, Georgia in all its glory. As a tiny bonus, I've included some visual stimuli down here at the bottom, although I'm guessing that if you've read this far, it probably won't exactly please your eyes. Over and out.
So I started using tumblr
So yeah, I started using this website like everyone else I guess, so I might as well blog about stuff. More to follow.
