The meld broke, and Kirk coughed as if coming up for air. His body was slammed back into the mattress, and he suddenly had a very heavy, shaking Vulcan on top of him.

There was a severe sting in the forefront of his skull, and Kirk's headache from before was back with a vengeance, doubling in its intensity. He hissed, gritting his teeth.

Spock let out a pained moan, and Kirk opened his eyes to find his face right above him. Spock had his arms and legs pinned, and his skin was misted by sweat. He looked tortured, and Kirk enjoyed the fact that he had managed to knock Spock down a peg or two.

Still… Kirk found his heart squeezed at the sight, even if he had been the cause.

“Spock,” he whispered, “look at me.”
