Most people don't know that the reason we have Jewish hospitals in Canada is because they were established at a time when hospitals would not hire jewish doctors because they were Jewish. Jewish General Hospital in Montreal was established after a Jewish doctor was hired at a goyishe hospital and ALL OF THE INTERNS WALKED OFF THE JOB IN PROTEST. Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto was established because there wasn't a single hospital in the city where Jewish doctors would be hired to practice.

i overheard someone very smart in all other aspects say they felt like there was clear hiring preference over at the jewish general and i'm like gee i wonder how that must feel??? there's clear hiring preference for non-jews everywhere else, let us have one place where our needs come first.

i know many people see any discussion of antisemitism anywhere in the world as ‘basically talking about reverse racism’ because they can’t imagine jewish presence anywhere as non-oppressive. i am not going to convince them otherwise but maybe i can haunt them
