the ad was apparently such a big thing in the uk that legend claims sony put a bouncy ball in the box with every bravia tv. also apparently those balls bounced REALLY FAST.

#Prince Ali Reprise doesn't belong anywhere near this list #Jafar's ONLY singing in the whole movie and it lasts for like 12 seconds AND he doesn't even get an original melody? out.#the World's Greatest Criminal Mind suffers from conflicting musical cues- it's far too slow and the timbres and general pitch height mean #that it makes for a highly ineffective villain song. And that guy can't sing. out.#Gaston is fine BUT. Gaston himself doesn't do half the singing and it kinda just makes him come across as a jerk rather than an evil villai #Friends on the Other Side is a great song but like HALF of it is just TALKING through that card reading. Also it should be longer.#Mine Mine Mine is a fantastic song buuuutttttt. EVERYTHING in that movie is a duality. obviously this one contrasts colors of the wind-#and honestly it's more of just a vaguely malicious party song than anything else #Savages is closer to what I would describe as a villain song- IF it didn't come bundled with those TWO other perspectives!#when you think quintessential villain song what you want is some combination of angry/scary/extremely specific villainous plotting #Hellfire is obviously the most realistic and the one that scared me most as a kid #but musically it can't hold a candle to Be Prepared and Poor Unfortunate Soul #and if it comes down to a choice between those two? Poor Unfortunate Soul is going to win every time #the vocal signalling in Poor Unfortunate Soul is unequivocally the best on this list #from about 'body language' to the end is fucking unparalleled. frankly better every animated movie song AND most broadway songs combined.#the two other animated villain songs I would put in the very top tier are No More Mister Nice Guy and In the Dark of the Night #(and neither of those are disney)#while we're here let's have a moment of silence for Shan Yu's villain song that he never got...#they knew it would be too powerful
