I wish everyone in the TFA fandom saw TFA Optimus's temporary "death" as one of the most important moments in his character development and his personal life story.
OP took the fall for a horrific and tragic accident that was in no way his fault. His punishment was more than just expulsion from the Autobot Academy. Everything he'd worked for his entire life was instantly ripped away. He was functionally "banished" from his home planet and most of the bots he would've considered "family" (one of whom was presumed dead from the accident he took responsbility for.) He was shunned, labelled a failure and a disgrace, while one of the bots who was actually responsible for the Archa-7 Incident was given the rank and prestige that Optimus rightfully deserved.
And Optimus accepted all of this because he'd also spent his entire life being conditioned to believe he didn't deserve better.
In TFA's pilot episode, Ultra Magnus rubbed salt in every single one of the aforementioned wounds by telling Optimus, "Don't try to be a hero...It's not in your programming."
And then Oppy proved he was a hero - a hero worthy of the namesake of 'Optimus Prime' - in spite of everything that happened to him on Cybertron, and all the bots who didn't believe in him.
I didn't grow up watching or reading Transformers, but I knew that Optimus Prime was the franchise's symbol across its multiverse of continuities. of the one of the titular characters in every continuity, I wasn't aware that killing off Optimus Prime is apparently some kind of trope. So when TFA Optimus died in the beginning of his series, I was shocked. The weight of his dying words "So this is what it feels like...to be a hero," followed by his frame graying out, hit me full force.
Sari resurrecting him with her key after only a few moments didn't cheapen Oppy's death or sacrifice for me. As far as I'm concerned, that moment was TFA Optimus's rebirth - his second chance to live the life he deserved, and become the person he was meant to be.
TLDR: I need to release my emotions because I'm pissed off and offended that Keyan Carlile called TFA OP's death "the most egregious sin this show ever committed."
I'd say the show's most egregious sin is probably never revisiting OP's death, or touching on how it acts as the lynchpin between Optimus's life on Cybertron (stuck under Ultra Magnus's thumb in a toxic society/family), and his life on earth as a guardian of the Allspark and the leader of his own found-family.

Random shockdad au idea
Shockwave almost destroyed gets found and restored by humans who mistakes him to be some empty mech that they could use, they repair shockwave and then we have bee a guy with no friends or family and is eager to be one of the few to pilot something from outer space.
Shockwave continues to pretend to be mindless and learn more of the planet and find ways to contact the other decepticons that is until the humans tries to implant some sort of program or ai to act as some sort of helper, shockwave deletes the ai but pretends to be the helper to the humans who enter him, bee kept talking to shockwave as if he was an actual person instead of a program and even shared his life and asked shockwave questions and called shockwave longarm and stuff (shockwave gets attached and goes to google to search up ways to raise a human)
shockwave keeps killing every other human pilots by electricution, cooking them alive, or something with bee miraculously the only one to not die and was almost arrested in suspision of murder but shockwave had somehow fabricated some footages framing another recruit wasp since he is the few hasnt entered him and was antagonistic to bee, so bee's name was cleared and wasp is arrested
Bee is the only one who continued to piloted shockwave until years later (bee is older idk 20s or 30s) eventually the other transformers who are on earth awaken from their stasis and fight and calls the others etc etc. Now we have shockwave revealing who he is and kidnaps bee

Where bumblebee used to work for shockwave when he was senator (shockwave on a mission snuck in sentinel palace got caught and put to empuratra and was luckily saved by the high guards he was with but sadly lost some of his memories including the ones with bee)
Why the others didnt bother to make him remember bee? Simple, they were more focused on sentinel and the quintessons
How did shockwave finally remember bee? Simple, bee during a battle severely got injured and lost his voicebox and shockwave gets flashback to when he tried to escape with bee and ends with bee getting shot in the chest damaging his t-cog
Why bee still alive even though he got shot in the chest years ago? He is shockwave's assistant and sentinel always noticed how close they were and was hoping that by repairing bee would he spill the beans only to find out that bee lost his memories which ends with bee getting thrown to sub level 50 without a tcog (sentinel liked him since bee was geniune and always stroked his ego so this is the merciful thing he could do anyways)
