i keep thinking about this comment and I just wonder why you keep thinking of something you don't enjoy while reading something you do enjoy (general you ofc) how does one not get sucked in by the story so much they forget they were even reading in the first place, it's just a little odd to me, that's all, what do you think?
seems like a miserable way to live a life lmao. I mean I know we’re only talking about fanfics on ao3, but if this person has to deliberately make themself miserable by thinking about the fact that the things they dislike exist, I can’t help but wonder if this is also how they live their daily life: just being miserable because, in real life, somewhere out there, there are things that they hate too.
the unfortunate truth is that the things that you (general you) hate will always exist. the things I hate exist. not just when it comes to fanfics but anything in general. the world does not revolve around you or your personal preferences. so you can either choose to ignore things you cannot change or control and focus your time and energy on something you enjoy, or you can make yourself miserable by focusing your time and energy on the fact that people like the things you hate, the things you hate exist, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
as for this specific person, if they’re this miserable about fanfics and ao3 only then I guess it sucks for them, but if this is also how they live their life and how they react to other things in real life that they hate, then I genuinely hope they seek help, because they need it.
honestly its genuinely amazing how supportive and interactive you are with the proshipping/pro writing community. We need more ppl like you, cuz i feel like genuinely one of the only reasons proshipping and the art that it produces are so stigmatized because puritan assholes on the Internet unfortunately have as much access to stating terrible opinions as the rest of us do.
I personally dont particularly engage with dark fiction most of the time, but thats just my taste, and i dont make a big deal about it. And i feel like more people need to do that instead of going out and harassing people for their writing/artwork. Honestly, even when it comes to ppl who are into, idk like noncon roleplaying or age play or whatever shit like that, is completely harmless aslong as it is kept in a safe and non-abusive environment. Do i still think its weird? Yes, but that is just my personal opinion and i am fortunate to be mentally mature enough to not bullshit people with my opinions. And i wish more ppl were like that, and would just leave ppl alone instead of bullying them off the Internet.
If it says, dead dove do not eat, you have no right to complain about eating the dove of your own accord.
thank you very much 😊
Man, remember when Free The Nipple was a thing and there was an actual substantial amount of feminists who believed even public nudity wasn't inherently sexual and now if you date a short person hundreds of anonymous idiots online will call you a pedophile.

Happy pride month to country mama lynn and ger gay son only
aint it crazy how many people realize they're queer when they have the language to express how they feel and a support system to encourage self exploration????
I never stop enjoying reading this. Literally everyone's lives improves.
Ancient legends say that if you reblog this on June you get 110% gayer and stronger
right at the beginning when she's like how do I help my son feel loved and accepted I'm here shouting "QUEEN YOU ALREADY DID THAT BY TAKING HIS SIDE AND LEAVING THAT NO GOOD HUSBAND FOR HAVING THE AUDACITY TO KICK YOUR BABY OUT!" And Good for her! this is the only response to a man who kicks out a child.

Hoping and gonna start praying you get 🍇 repeatedly for a whole day, then come back on here and continue writing non con🖕😝
sounds hot. I’m in. cnc is already what my partner and I do in bed every night (I play his victim) so
also in all seriousness this is the type of ask someone who claims to be “the good guy” and “morally superior” sends a stranger while hiding behind anon — because they don’t like that said stranger writes about fictional taboo stories by the way.
no, this type of asks do not affect me. I’ll still continue writing whatever I want, however I want. and I’ll do so unapologetically. they can’t stop me. because I know my kinks stay 100% a fantasy. I don’t harm anybody with what I enjoy in fiction and I don’t force anybody to read what I write.
that said, I just love when these types of people keep showing their true colors lmao
Antis claim to be the good guys by the way. I don’t think good people send strangers rape threats—especially over fiction—but maybe that’s just me
Typical anti behavior
I will not elaborate.
@sergle is correct
big fan of the recent trend ive noticed of people adding flaming text of the original word over censored words in posts. do NOT sanitize the internet. say fuck with your chest
Hot take but I really do think that some of y’all need to consider how/why/when/how often you’re making fun of straight people for being straight
I do it too, I’m not going to pretend I don’t make jokes about the hets, or the down with cis bus, or whatever
But I recently befriended a cis, straight dude and I have watched him be dismissed, degraded, and unambiguously insulted for the perceived “crime” of being straight — all in queer environments where he is allegedly “completely welcome” and surrounded by “friends”
This guy is not a toxic person! But I have seen him be made to feel so small and like his comfort and safety in those spaces are conditional on his silence and acceptance of being treated like a human dunk zone, and I think that some of y’all have had so much shit from straight/cis people that the second you feel like you’ve got an inch, you want to luxuriate in the perceived catharsis of bullying someone who— actually —doesn’t deserve it
And until he very, very carefully mentioned to me in private that it makes him feel bad, I didn’t even clock that I was involved in doing that, that it had become so instinctive for me to make casual jokes like that, and that— well meaning or otherwise —I had been contributing to an environment that made someone I really really like feel like shit
So, I dunno, I think maybe some of y’all should think about that too
Coming back to say that while a lot of the responses to this post have been mainly positive, some folks have an attitude that it should be something that my friend— or any cis, straight man —should just be able to get over, because fuck ‘em, that’s why, because they’re in a queer space and they should shut up and accept it, because you suffer as a queer person and they should have to suffer too— regardless of whether or not this specific person has done anything to wrong you
I’m gonna say this point blank— you’re a tar pit if you think this way
Your suffering does not make you special, you are not granted brand new permissions to be belligerent and cruel because you have been treated poorly, straight people aren’t an oppressed class, no, but they’re people who are entitled to the same amount of basic decency that you, yourself, are entitled to
It feels good when you’ve been treated like shit to then go forward and treat other people like shit. That’s what you’re admitting. Does it make you feel good to do harm? Are you proud of that? Are you comfortable with being that kind of person? Because I dunno about the rest of you— but I realized I wasn’t, and it turns out it’s pretty fucking easy to change
This is literally what people are talking about when they say AI will be used to mainstream widely held bigotry. LLMs are trained on frequency and probability -> straight relationships are more well represented in the dataset -> straight pronouns and terms become the "correct" normal.
This is a form of backdoor bigotry from both normative facts (there are more straight than gay relationships) and well represented bigoted beliefs (men are superior to women).
Combine this with the mass of people inclined to believe (and being encouraged to believe) that if AI says and does something it must be correct

pet peeve is when you look up fashion references from a specific era and you keep getting modern day '[era]-inspired' fashion like NO i want authenticity damn it. i can see your 2020 photo quality and your 2020 hair and your 2020 makeup. youre not fooling me.
hello i'm a historical fashion researcher and i have a lot of experience looking up things! this is a very widely experienced irritation and you're definitely not alone in this, but i am here to share everything i know!
so, ways to get around this:
turn off AI results. they're literally nonsense to us
don't use pinterest because the sources/provenance is often hard to trace
a standard internet search can be okay, but museum collections are the top tier (list of collections below this list)
instead of broad terms like victorian, regency, tudor, renaissance etc. try using the decade you're looking for. if you're not sure of what decade it is but have a vague image in your head, look on the fashion history timeline and just jump around until you find it. but even changing to e.g. 19th century will give better results than victorian
including terms like womenswear/menswear, daywear, formal wear, evening wear, court dress should increase the value of your search too
including "fashion plates" in your search can give you a nice impression of the intended silhouettes of the era. some of these might be a little stylised but will show you what was considered in vogue
for pre-fashion plate eras or things like makeup and styling, you'll have to look at portraiture or manuscripts. these are harder to actually find what you're looking for, but searching museum collections and limiting results to specific date ranges will be your friend
when looking at art, do bear in mind sometimes artists would paint fabric extra flow-y to show off their skills. it might not have been exactly like that in terms of fabric weight or drape. so, a pinch of salt required!
if you find something on image search where the provenance is dubious, reverse image search and you might find a source! i've been able to trace random pinterest images to real sources, but this does take a lot of time and effort and is often not worth the headache
some online resources and museum collections:
fashion history timeline is an invaluable resource if you're trying to get a feel for everything and should be your first port of call. it'll also link to good examples
the met has a vast number of extant examples of clothing, as well as fashion plates
costume institute fashion plates is a subcollection of the met for fashion plates (1800s-1922)
v&a also has many extant garments, fashion plates, and incredible articles on clothing and aesthetics. read the details of the objects because they'll often reveal a lot about the piece
lacma is good for C19th-20th pieces
nypl digital collection for photographs
national portrait gallery or similar for portraiture, or literally any museum in your country that has historical art
national museums scotland can be useful situationally but might be oddly specific
stout style history is a great collection for finding image references for fat people wearing historical clothes. survival bias of a lot of museum pieces tends towards smaller clothing that couldn't be repurposed, but this aims to counter that. it's not sortable, but is still a really nice resource
wikimedia commons is surprisingly handy! and the images, if you should need to link/repost them, are public domain
auction websites sound like a funny one to recommend. some won't have mannequins and some will. just look up historical garment auctions and you'll find some!
anyway, i hope this has been a good place to start for anyone interested! there are probably some i've missed because there are so many museums across the world and i don't know about all of them or can't remember them. but these are the ones i've used the most! (my specialisation/jobs i've had to research for have only really been in western fashion, so my resources reflect that)

I love how there are so many research articles out there — that are backed up by licensed experts and actual victims/survivors — that prove creative writing, including dark fiction, can help a lot of victims and survivors heal from their trauma (not all, obviously, but it works for a lot of people) but there are still some random people on the internet who are like “actually no I support victims and survivors, because I’m such a good person, but if they heal in a way that I personally do not approve of then I am gonna shame them and call them predators. like why would they do that especially without my permission ewww disgusting”
Just watched Adam Conover (of Adam Ruins Everything) make such a solid point that I think we should spread far and wide. Yes, having AI write your emails is lazy, sure, but people love being lazy. We need to really emphasize that sending AI emails (or using AI responses on social media, or publishing AI flyers, or or or) is rude.
It's rude. You're making someone take their time to read something you couldn't bother to write. You're telling them they were so unimportant you couldn't be bothered to actually take the time to say something yourself. And frankly, you're lying about it while you're at it.
It's rude.
The above is doubly true if the content of the email is something that will be important to the person receiving - especially something that affects them negatively. They see that this thing that affected them so much didn't matter enough to you to write it yourself. I was a bystander to such a thing not long ago and it was just awful.
