either way, will’s loathing wraps them both together, and maybe it blurs the line between the two possibilities: will whispering god’s name against mack’s skin, like this, he’s both the sinner and judge, begging with the noose tied around his neck, God, he’s closer to you now than he’d ever been in his immoral existence, this weak lustful thing with your cross hanging from his neck, your name filling his ears—
at some point will thrusts in just right and mack moans and his wings kick, spreading out with all their glory, and the demon’s powerful back flexing as he takes their weight. they stretch above them and pull will’s eyes up in awe. the words ‘weak’ and ‘offering’ suddenly out of place, replaced by ‘magnificent’ and ‘mighty’ and—as mack looks back at him with a self-satisfied smile, so beautiful that slit pupils and forked tongue are suddenly more alluring than malevolent—the wings move, shielding them in their shadow, and will’s world falls off its axis when his soul whispers divine.
