When it comes to writing Sid (and his friendship/relationship with Mack (and a small stint with CMD)), I like to keep a balance between the protege/mentor + good friends dynamic between sidmack without toppling too far into either side. Mack looks up to Sid and is constantly looking at him for what he should aspire to be, Sid is happy being this idol Mack looks up to and providing guidance.

Then there's the part of them where they're actually quite good friends with each other. They're buddies now! They probably joke and tease! Mack might clap back at him if he'd like to! (I'm sure he refrains from this simply bc well, that's Sid) but I love to think they're jokey with each other (like, Sid making quips about how he misses when Mack was all awkward and dizzy about the fact he was in Sid's presence). I think Mack may have been polite early on, but they've been in each other's proximity long enough that Mack seems to be pretty comfortable and cordial. The way they beam at each other on the ice and the bench and the hugs during cellies is a testament to that. I think they're both very humble with each other, very genuine, very honest. They both admire each other. Sid admires Mack's hockey and adores him just as much as Mack loves Sid.

Mack has also said before that Sid is the yapper in their friendship. Which is so cute to me. Sid is the one who tells jokes and yaps in Mack's ear while Mack just nods along, maybe a little starry-eyed about it, intently listening. Their smiles at each other!!!!!
