Listen: Angélica Rahe’s Remix of Pa’lante
If you’re a fan of Angélica Rahe’s smash hit “Pa’lante,” you’re going to want to hear this remix of it.
She teamed up with DJ duo Electric Bodega to revamp her debut single for a more electrifying sound. You might know this duo from their work with The Chainsmokers and Nina Sky. The signature drum beats, their horn section, and their upbeat rhythms are present in this track and perfectly compliment Angélica’s voice for a song that you’ll have on constant repeat in your Spotify playlists.
In other Spotify news, this up-and-coming (and favorite) artist of ours curated a playlist in spirit of the new remix. Are you a fan of Sia? Major Lazer? Maluma? If so, this eclectic choice of songs will satisfy your party playlist needs for the next few weeks.
Enjoy!

I've been thinking about the best way to say my piece on everything that has been going on. I am angry, sad and scared all at once, so here I go: this won't be perfect but it's from the heart. There is a problem in this country. Brown skin automatically makes you a target and a beacon of fear. I can say this because I have lived this. My second week of college I was called a n*gger for standing on a corner. My mom has been accused of attempting to smuggle me in from Dominican Republic when I was a young girl. I have been told I speak like a white girl and that people don't even consider me "black" as if being black is some kind of fucking disease. These are just situations I can account but I CANNOT count the amount of times l've felt like an outsider looking in because of the color of my skin. This is real people. And what I have personally suffered is in no way as traumatic as what my community has suffered. Yes, even people I do not know are considered my community. And guess what, they should be considered yours too. I have seen a lot of my peers say All Lives Matter in an attempt to silence #BlackLivesMatter. I'm not going to get angry here because I am and I was, but I am going to ask you to look deep inside your own anger towards these three words and ask yourself why? Why does it upset you to see us standing up for the black community? We can support all human rights while concentrating on the issue at hand which is the execution of black lives. People being targeted because of the color of their skin. The most common argument is that everyone has suffered discrimination in some way and while yes that may be true, think about this: If you are not brown skinned you can walk around hiding your minority while we get judged and feared just by living black. Instead of saying All Lives Matter + getting angry w the movement, go out and volunteer with a community that is suffering. We need to stand up for each other right now that is what will bring about real change. I love you all and pray that we can find peace as a community of one. 💓 #AltonSterling #PhilandoCastile #SayTheirNames
I read in the paper that my brothers are being thrown from rooftops blindfolded with their hands tied behind their backs for violating sharia law. I heard the crowds stone these fallen men if they move after they hit the ground. I heard it’s in the name of God. I heard my pastor speak for God too, quoting scripture from his book. Words like abomination popped off my skin like hot grease as he went on to describe a lake of fire that God wanted me in. I heard on the news that the aftermath of a hate crime left piles of bodies on a dance floor this month. I heard the gunman feigned dead among all the people he killed. I heard the news say he was one of us. I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a faggot as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty. That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t. Many hate us and wish we didn’t exist. Many are annoyed by our wanting to be married like everyone else or use the correct restroom like everyone else. Many don’t see anything wrong with passing down the same old values that send thousands of kids into suicidal depression each year. So we say pride and we express love for who and what we are. Because who else will in earnest? I daydream on the idea that maybe all this barbarism and all these transgressions against ourselves is an equal and opposite reaction to something better happening in this world, some great swelling wave of openness and wakefulness out here. Reality by comparison looks grey, as in neither black nor white but also bleak. We are all God’s children, I heard. I left my siblings out of it and spoke with my maker directly and I think he sounds a lot like myself. If I being myself were more awesome at being detached from my own story in a way I being myself never could be. I wanna know what others hear, I’m scared to know but I wanna know what everyone hears when they talk to God. Do the insane hear the voice distorted? Do the indoctrinated hear another voice entirely?
My heart aches for our society but I am confident in the ability of our generations’ responsibility to fight and protect our scared spaces. They will not win.

I danced ballet for 12 years of my life and always felt like I didn’t belong. My body was weird, my family wasn’t in the right tax bracket, and my stop on the train wasn’t something I was proud of. I admire and pretty much worship Misty Copeland because I imagine what she would have meant to a young me. Thank you Misty for helping people believe they can be anything they set their minds to. You’re a star and an inspiration 🙏🏽

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
