Wonwoo moments 2/∞: when we see glimpses of joker wonwoo ++ fancam credit (x)
Story Time:
Working in retail is really fun, and the times when major fuck-ups happen, they can be either anxiety-attack inducing, or make it possible to get through the rest of your god-awful shift with a smile depending on the customer. My all-time favorite absolute fuck-up is as follows:
This kind woman is just doing her thing. She scans her membership card from her keychain. The register beeps to acknowledge the scan. We continue as usual. Neither of us notice right away, but after I've scanned a few more items, I hear a very quiet, "Um," from the lady, very polite. I look at her. She is looking at the screen of my register, blinking. I, too, look.
And lo and behold. There is a charge of over four-thousand dollars ($4,000) worth of garlic bread staring us in the face. There are no words for a minute. We're just... in awe. How did this happen? How the hell did this happen?
She didn't even have garlic bread in her cart.
I sputter a partial apology - I was incapable of forming actual sentences in the moment - and try to void the garlic bread. Since there was no garlic bread to scan, I try to manually remove $4,000-some from this transaction.
Well, the registers don't like it when you try to void off more than five dollars ($5) from a transaction, so naturally it pings my manager for confirmation, but she's not by her pager.
At this point, both myself and the lady are just... dumbfounded. She's not even mad. I'm not even all that embarrassed. Both of us are just looking at the screen. There's a bit of laughter, but it's mostly just... confusion.
I have to call through the whole store for my manager on the intercom because she's not answering. She shows up, ready to override and void it, when she too, sees what exactly is being voided.
"What... did you do?"
"I genuinely. Have literally. No. Idea."
She voids it, and I go to finish the transaction and tell the woman her total (minus the garlic bread). My register pings. It tells me that she hasn't scanned her membership card. Odd. I distinctly remember her doing that. The woman goes to scan her card again, and I notice that her library card is stuck to her membership card. I tell her gently, and she separates the two and scans her card.
My manager, hovering nearby still, sees this and says, "I think it mistook the barcode of her other card for garlic bread, and the remaining digits were read as the price."
And that's when the laughter really came over us. There were no hard feelings at all. In fact, the woman was incredibly glad that the receipt still showed the garlic bread and the voiding of. I will remember it until the end of time, my only regret in the entire situation being that I didn't take a damn picture, because she has proof and I don't. But I swear to God it happened.
TDLR; Library Card Charged $4,000 of Garlic Bread.
that’s just how valuable library cards are. each one is worth at least $4000 of garlic bread
please don't take away his beans
In the afterlife, let's still be brothers, okay?

what is it about woosan that drives you insane?
(flips open my zippo to light the cigarette that has manifested in my mouth out of thin air) i've been waiting for someone to ask…
i know that they're not everyone's cup of tea mostly because they are kind of a given. the people love tension, after all, and sometimes the couples that are so obvious it hurts don't garner the same sort of spark that others do. i get that. i understand it.
but i am going to take a moment here and say that i don't think woosan is a given-- not entirely. and for that, i am going to talk about choi san specifically. we're saving the wooyoung half of this answer for another day. buckle the fuck in
if there's one thing about san, it's that he's loyal. everyone describes him as such. and it's easy to understand loyalty as steadfastness, right, because he is that. but there is an aspect to san's loyalty that has to do with what happens when san makes a choice. see, when san chooses to do something, he does it, whole-heartedly, immediately all in. san wanted to be better at english-- he is consistently studying, getting more confident, and promising to continue to try more. san wanted to get better at dancing-- he is now part of choreographing some of their dances, is constantly engaged in dance practices and creative decisions therein. san wanted to work out and get stronger-- (gestures to him now). and you can see it in san's relationships, too. when san chose-- loosely, i'm being tongue-in-cheek-- to fixate on yeosang, it was not a quick joke. we've gotten an entire season of San Wants Yeosang's Attention complete with a full character arch and plot development. even if it is a bit, san makes a choice and follows through. but san is quiet, shy, reserved. he does not have a ton of friends, prefers a smaller circle of people to a larger one. he isn't the person to necessarily need to be the centre of attention. any time he pushes outside of his comfort zone, it is a deliberate choice. and san, god help him, made a choice to love jung wooyoung. loving wooyoung requires. wooyoung does not know how to receive love, so san must work to show him in every way he can. chooses to call restaurants ahead of time to make sure they have dishes without cucumber. promises wooyoung's mother to take care of him. answers who's the best dancer and you don't regret it, right and other questions over and over again. loving wooyoung means making the choice, again and again, to be uncomfortable. to put aside shyness in order to make him laugh (san's favourite thing to do). to do things he would never do alone or by his own idea. to let go of his image. loving wooyoung means making the choice, again and again, to not overthink. to get a tattoo just because wooyoung asked him to, in secret, despite the very real threat of repercussion-- from their company, their families, society. it means making the choice, over and over, to stand by that decision when questioned about it, when made fun of about it by friends and strangers alike. the choice to say i meant it, i mean it. and loving wooyoung means making the choice to not stop. to say, yes, forever. yes, to the grave. because they fight like hell and get on each other's nerves. because other people think they're codependent and shouldn't you spend time with other people? and because wooyoung may not believe him, not fully, and instead of letting him-- instead of accepting wooyoung's deep seated belief that he is not lovable-- san chooses, again and again and again, to prove it. the most important aspect of this for me is this: san is a hopeless romantic. he has said as much because he grew up with a fairytale romance-- that of his parents. the story goes that his mom and dad dreamt of each other before they ever met. when they finally did meet, they just knew. and from there, it was easy, simple. that is the type of love san was taught-- that it happens to you, comes to you by chance, finds you. and it would be easy for someone who grew up believing in fairytales to think that their soulmate would be someone easy. someone that would fit into his life without much fuss or fight. but san found love that was not easy. was difficult at a lot of times. was scary and complicated and required things from him that were so far out of his comfort zone, out of his norm. and instead of running from it, or denying it, or shying away from it, san chose it. said, yes, this is what i want. this is the love i want. it is mine, and i am going to keep it, and i will do what i have to in order to do that. saw his soulmate not as an easy given, but as a promise he had to keep. and if there's one thing about san-- he keeps his promises.
You are an adventurer in a generic fantasy world and you use this weapon!
Do you like it?

Shen Yuan is actually a great cautionary tale abt underestimating the effect your presence has on the ones you care about. You are fucking important. Your good actions matter, and won’t be completely erased by one bad deed. Your life matters. People care about you. They won’t stop caring about you just bc you think they would be justified to. Communicate. Do not kys right in front of your favourite person out of a misguided attempt to cheer them up with your death you fucking idiot I swear to Airplane.
We're at the "JK Rowling is personally funding litigation to try and destroy AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL" stage of rabid UK terf brain.
Screenshot via Alejandra Caraballo @esqueer.net on bluesky
Tldr Amnesty International, global human rights organisation, published a report called 'A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK'. In it is detailed, amongst others, a whole bunch of transphobic groups and organisations, including Beira's Place, JK Rowling's trans exclusionary sexual violence support service. JK Rowling threw a shit fit and got Amnesty to take the report down by threatening libel. This was obviously not enough, because you can't appease a fascist, so now she's going to bankroll a bunch of lawsuits anyway through the JK Rowling Women's Fund.*
You can read an archived version of the report here, please save it and share it.
*Not so friendly reminder there is no way to engage in the wizard books without enabling this shit.

boochan as trainees 😭😭😭 *Tokyo girl: SK recommended DN to sing this song for an evaluation, but it was too low for his range, so during the evaluation, DN got a lot of criticism.

tag game: 10 people you’d like to know better!
I was tagged by @fourseasonsblossoms :) thank you! I hadn't done one of these since my old tumblr times in 2016 lol
last song: Seventeen Dino's new song as Pi Cheolin! (the Korean title is super long and I don't know the English title, if it has any at all)
currently watching: Love Beyond the Grave (liked the start but we're suffering from main character syndrome and I lost all interest), Story of Yanxi Palace (after my favourite character died I had to stop because if I go on someone else is going to die too), and Abbot Elementary. I really want to rewatch Word of Honor soon, I need my comfort show.
currently reading: Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett and Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown. Apparently all the books in the Witches arc are based on Shakespeare's plays. Also, I've found I actually enjoy reading non-fiction! This one is super interesting so far, I love how language and emotions are connected. (Did you know that you are less emotional in a foreign language?)
current obsession: none at the moment, I'm too tired surviving. Hopefully I'll get one soon!!!
currently working on: Three different embroidery projects and a travel diary to document my two trips back in 2024 (lol)
last google search: the weather forecast... I'm suffering
favourite flowers: I like lotuses, jasmine, almond blossoms, and one that kind of looks like a peony but I think it isn't.
tagging (if you want): any of my very few followers/mutuals if they want to do so @serendi-pat-y @sillksong @yuanzhous @chiringchiring
