It’s all well and good if the CCOD finale wasn’t your thing but also I feel we are all forgetting something: this season was directly inspired by WWDITS. Ya know, the show that brought us “I drank the blood of some people and the people were on drugs and now I am a wizard.”? The one that had some good throughline emotional beats but was mostly Bit fuckin City? I mean Zac’s character was based on Zoolander!! Murph was a vampire who thinks he’s some sort of Batman!! THERE WAS A GHOUL HORSE NAMED GHORSE. Batchild swallowed a missile in the first episode! They wrote off multiple shit shows as “Banksy’s”!! If you wanted a serious season and got a silly one I get it. But you can’t pretend this was ever all that serious outside of Brennan’s signature capitalism and fascism sucks tropes. You can’t criticize something on criteria it never met (or really even intended to meet) in the first place.
Ify is in an episode of Game Changer. Zach and Jiavani are in The Good Place. Anna is in the timeloop. Demi is in a Charlie Chaplin film but that film is also a Mario 64 speedrun. Hannah Pilkes is having the day she always has but in the backrooms, and Catherine McCafferty is of course in As Above So Below.
Now that it's been a few days, I think my opinion of the finale has simmered down to:
Do I think it's good storytelling? No, absolutely not. It was all over the place, introducing plot points that would have been better left alone and failing to tie up dangling threads that should have been addressed.
Do I think it was the most entertaining two and a half hours I've had in ages? Hell, yeah! The absurdity was half the fun for me, even though the storytelling was unsatisfying.
At the end of the day, this was a popcorn season to me (similar to a popcorn flick: you watch it because it's wildly entertaining, not because it's great cinema). This was a guy and his friends having the the best time RPing a system they weren't familiar with and just doing whatever felt funnest in the moment, and that made it so much fun. Breannan and the Intrepid Heroes laughed so much through the entire season, they were clearly having an absolute blast.
People are valid for criticizing it, and people are valid for enjoying it.

To my 25 - 35 year olds, you've reached the age where people around you are starting to give up on themselves because they think it's too late. Don't let that energy rub off on you. It's not too late.
I became a tattoo artist at 49.
Married the love of my life at 50.
Got my Class A CDL at 59.
You've got time.
As long as you're breathing, you've got time.
Acceptance doesn't mean "I am okay with this."
It means "This is what is happening. Now what?"
With practice, it is possible to change your relationship with the distress that appears when adverse things happen.
Instead of becoming caught up in it, it is possible to learn to observe it, acknowledge it, let it move through you in its own time. The last part may not be pleasant. But if you can let go and allow it, then you are not creating an extra layer of distress: fighting it.
It is like being caught in a riptide. You did not choose this. You do not control it. You can only control your response, to whatever degree you have learned to do that.
If you have not learned what to do when caught in a riptide, you may try to swim against the current towards the shore. This would be the obvious choice. But the riptide is stronger than you, and will wear you out before you can reach land.
If you know what to do, you will either try to float without resistance and call for help if you are not a strong swimmer, or swim parallel to the shore until you are free of the riptide. Then you can either be rescued, or swim to shore.
Accepting that you are caught in a riptide doesn't mean you are happy about it. But denying it, or remaining unaware, or getting lost in distress about the situation, will cause additional problems.

immediate top 5 game changer episode btw there’s just so much to love. the slow reveal of the rooms. ify being the first to lose in room 1. catherine mccafferty being the episode’s main character and breakout star. the set design for all of the rooms but ESPECIALLY the spot the difference ones. 25 grants. the friendship(?) between hannah and the bouncer for room 2. demi accidentally plotting his own downfall by saying pop goes the weasel at the same time as hannah. sam trying to fill time while waiting for a player to win their way back up. the pic pong got him. a true fucking delight all the way down and back up again
