Life Update Part 2 - Career
Not long before I took my Tumblr break I quit my incredibly toxic job with zero prospects of employment. During my off time I went to therapy, nannied for my niece, and just tried to figure out what I wanted my professional life to look like.
I started a new job in Nov 2019 as a makerspace librarian, and I'm still there and pretty happy. It's work, so of course it has its moments, but I don't dread going, and I don't have harmful thoughts. I've been able to participate in some amazing opportunities that are work adjacent, as well as having fun encouraging people to be creative and learning about a lot of cool equipment and tools.
I've also added leadership and management to my list of career goals. Never thought that would be a thing I wanted, but apparently having a really awful manager and then building confidence to realize you want to and have the capacity to be someone who leads and supports staff can make you rethink your career goals.
I'm always a work in progress, but I'm on a pretty good path.
