This made my day! Every author loves rabbiting on about their books, especially the little bits of lore that most people will never know (unless, like you, they ask). I had a super hard time finding a fancast for Knife when I wanted to make a LiveJournal icon of her way back in, uh, 2007. But I eventually settled on an Australian model named Catherine McNeil who seemed to have the narrow eyes, strong bones and overlarge mouth I imagined for Knife. For Timothy, I remember thinking a teenaged Devon Bostick (later infamous for playing Rodrick in the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie) was decently close to my mental image, though I found a stock photo of an unnamed boy who was even closer (sadly I cannot find this photo anywhere to link it). Rhosmari’s appearance was hugely influenced by a real teenaged girl I met around the time I was editing the book -- of course I can’t post her picture for privacy reasons, but the instant I saw this girl I thought “IT’S HER!” However, much more recently I also decided that Manon also looked quite a lot like Rhosmari, albeit only with her natural hair and an unusually conservative outfit. The closest thing I’ve found to a match for Martin are a few old photos of a voice actor named Troy Baker, who has the right blend of pointy weasel face and disarming good looks I associate with Martin, but also the not-so-faint air of disreputableness. You have to mentally subtract the beard scruff though, because male faeries cannot grow beards (though many piskey men and some older spriggans can and do). Linden and Rob I don’t have any consistent fancasts for, though you’ll find a few options in my #faery-rebels tag, I think.
