got a new class

new class immediately calls him washed up and scary

media invades school. tries to interview him but instead insults him. has to keep his best friend from literally blowing the media’s eardrums out

that same day, has to endure a bus ride with New Class That Doesn’t Respect Him

ALSO on the same day: USJ. do i need to say more.

well, i’m going to:

has to take on 20 villains by himself

has to watch his entire (NEW) class almost die

gets his face beaten in 

orbital bone literally shattered

arm nearly completely disintegrated 

beaten within an inch of his life by a New Type Of Monster that no one has seen before

did not think there was any hope of rescue, presumably decided he was going to die there (near fatal encounter 1)

watched friend (13) almost die

just when he thought he was done for, used the last of his energy to protect a student from being completely disintegrated  (near fatal encounter 2)

“eraserhead, you’re so cool” says the gremlin villain child as aizawa’s face is being smashed against the concrete

SPORTS FESTIVAL:

“i don’t need to stay in the hospital anymore” he says, still in the full body cast

best friend presumably decides that that is a very bad idea and he probably shouldn’t be left alone, so drags him to the commentator’s box to commentate on live TV with him

time for our yearly televised student death match!

pro hero insults one of his students (ochako), aizawa takes the microphone and yells at him, telling him to get a new job

HERO KILLER ARC:

3 students go “fuck what aizawa says”, go rogue in order to fight a villain, “goody two shoes” student attempts to murder same villain. all of this is against aizawa’s orders. said 3 students almost die

total near fatal encounters (where aizawa thought he was going to die): 2

total near fatal student encounters he’s had to deal with: 2

The way Aizawa is looking at the readers while saying that makes me feel attacked

Mic reverting back to his loud and unserious self. At this point I feel like it's his way of coping, where Aizawa tries to shut down his feelings he buries it under his 'play dumb' attitude. He's trying hard to pretend that this isn't affecting him by covering up his pain.

Also, Kurogiri's body is made of that stuff. How long has Shirakumo gone without feeling the warmth and touch of another human being? ;_; If he's still in there, has be been feeling like he's less and less of a human after having his body turned to mist?

And here we have Aizawa being in denial again. We've seen this before, for a man who lives of logic he sure does let emotion cloud his judgement when it comes to things/people he's become attached to. Probably why he tries even harder to close himself off from others, because he knows he'll only get himself hurt.

We also have a very cute looking Aizawa in the middle of all this pain and his husband knows it too 👀

Seeing him try to hold back his tears is so heartbreaking

I hope he isn't clinging onto an impossible hope here. He'd be doing exactly what he's trying to stop kids from doing. Reaching for something they cannot achieve and then hurting themselves when they don't.

This page though. The very first page. They wanted to start their own agency together. I see now why Aizawa's so hell bent on that 'it's cruel to let a dream end halfway'.

-has a pair of pink sweatpants that he wears to formal events

-owns scarves big enough to swallow almost his whole head

-apparently owns many copies of the exact same outfit because he doesn’t actually see any point in dressing in anything different–except for those bright pink sweatpants, of course

-was once given the task of making a banner for his class for the sports festival and tried to draw a cat, then decided the cat was too badly drawn and tried to hide it on his desk (smash)

-has canonically never once been late to classes/teaching

-despite this, he frequently rolls into class in a sleeping bag

-recently upgraded his sleeping bag so it now has arms

-the upgraded sleeping bag also may or may not have legs

-thinks and claims that he’s never gotten drunk before in his entire life, but it turns out that he immediately gets black-out drunk and forgets literally everything that happens in the morning

-and everyone has collectively decided not to tell him because he gets sappy and soft when drunk and also talks to inanimate objects

-sits in line for the newest sleeping bag releases (smash)

-tried to teach eri about different holidays but instead wound up painting easter eggs with her despite easter being 4 months away

-bought eri a set of designer clothes with cats on them that were described to be “ugly beyond belief”

-was subsequently banned from making Eri Fashion Decisions

-spent his time at the todoroki household (while escorting shouto and waiting for him) trying to call and tame a stray cat 

-once got so worried about a student that he ran off without one of his slippers

-fishes for his own food (with a comically large sun hat) and despite this, allows mic to come with him even though he scares off the fish (smash)

-once pretended to be dead so his students could show off to their parents (light novel 1)

-thought it was completely normal and appropriate to stab himself in the leg in front of his class because they told him he was a bad actor during a rescue training simulation and he apparently thought the only way to act better was to make the situation a bit realer (smash)

-once got hurt so bad that he was put in a full body cast, but a day later went “okay, i’ve had enough of being in the hospital” and showed up to class in the cast, horrifying his students
