nearing the end of june & starting a new job soon & spending most of my time with hardback novels & sipping watered down oat lattes in the heat & avoiding a downpour despite the forecast calling for storms & making a list of current prescriptions & scheduling appointments i don't want to go to & reconnecting with my therapist & slamming imaginary brakes in the passenger seat & dreaming up poems on the verge of falling asleep & shaking off nightmares about the cat dying in a fire & attempting to dodge insomnia & pulling myself out of bed one breakdown at a time
