Started using the phrase “that’s cilantro to me” to refer to the presence of a story element that completely ruins a piece of media for me, disproportionate to its actual badness.

Is there anything worse than talking to a non-Tumblr friend about something, and KNOWING that there's a PERFECT Tumblr reference for the situation they're describing to you but it would take 10 minutes of convoluted explanations to set up, and not only would they probably not laugh at the end but also they would definitely look at you different after.

animemusicquiz was a fun idea on its own but the cherry on top was that it would display what you rated a show out of ten. answering something like "i have never heard this in my life" just for it to be revealed that it's something you gave a 10. or answering in less than half a second because it was the opening theme to dearS and everyone is going "what the fuck is this" in chat while you're sitting there with the game displaying that you not only watched the entire show but also gave it a 3/10. nobody else in the 7 person lobby has seen it so you win that round

Like you do need to recognise sometimes that a person is not picking up your social cues and adjust your communication style accordingly. If someone isn't understanding you then you need to change up how you're communicating and not just say the same thing over & over.
