But also like, one of the things I’ve found about going to big events without loud music is people just be sayin shit and when it’s a lot of white people they’re usually a lot more lax about what they let out. I be goin to shit and learning things about people I don’t know ten feet away from me that would forever alter my relationship with them.
Gods, who’s that comedian with the joke about “if it hadn’t been for my horse, I never would’ve spent two years in college” - Like people be saying shit that’ll stick in your brain forever and you will NEVER get further context for, and you’re just left thinking about that one out of context paragraph.
Majority white spaces are this but with racist statements.
Some motherfucker saw some nice girls setting up a ham radio and went “you know what would really make this outing? If we could string someone up right now” and now instead of remembering “oh I went to the park and got a free burger” it’s “this one time I went to a trans meetup and someone made a lynching joke so I instantly dipped with protection from a bodyguard white”
And like.. none of this is *uncommon* this was just worse than normal.
Also, whites straight up don’t have to notice stuff for your own constant safety to the same degree. Like not every nonwhite is my level of hypervigilant but y’all can accept something as normal that isnt bc it ain’t affect y’all directly. Like to give an example.
One of the other racist things I saw today actually *started* yesterday, group of friends were talking about physics, two white dolls with no background in it, and one nonwhite doll with a formal education in it. The nonwhite doll was explaining things in detail but it wasn’t until a fourth person, a white doll who’s a professional physicist as well, came in and backed up the nonwhite doll, that the other whites were willing to accept it.
I bring it up earlier today bc the nonwhite doll came to me frustrated about the racism inherent in refusing to treat someone nonwhite as an educated competent source until a white voice supported her.
And just.. none of the other white folks in that group had noticed or even thought of it that way, whereas the other folks of color had seen it but been scared to speak up about it. Had just accepted it as another microaggression they’d have to live with seeing and happening.
Like. People just be saying shit that doesnt click as racism around/to y’all (general, white) until one of us points it out, and that leads y’all to automatically mentally filtering out a lot of the racist bullshit that gets said around y’all unless it’s like conservative buzzwords or slurs, and often it ends up with people trying to protect the white that said shit.
Iunno. The amount of racism I saw today was wild. I legit think it’s a rebound from people holding in their racism for Juneteenth bc I’ve watched three bits of racist bullshit including this happen today in diff places and I’m like. At least it wasn’t yesterday? 💀😭
