everyone is so insistent on Caleb’s movie being Ghost with Patrick Swayze… While every other LI got direct references to the original movie, Caleb doesn’t. The most iconic moment from Ghost is the pottery scene. Yes, Ghost is the most famous movie about, well, a ghost lover. But there’s a lot more. I have a feeling maybe it’s not a western movie at all?

But when I saw the trailer I first thought of Just like Heaven with Reese Witherspoon, and then about Le ballon rouge. The Ghost and Mrs. Muir seems likely based on the summary I’ve read, but i haven’t seen the movie so idk.

I guess the main point is that big bro is once again an outlier ∘ ∘ ∘ ( °ヮ° )

Right? I think part of what is throwing everyone off is the balloons and the balcony. It doesn’t fit with most of the big romance movies which could fall under this category and none of his lines felt familiar. After watching Just Like Heaven (2005) for the first time, it kind of has that nostalgic feel where the flowers are being represented by balloons and where MC sort of fades away? But I feel like we may need to keep hunting for the right one because it doesn’t feel like it quite fits

The recurring images of rings throughout the film (maybe a reference of everything coming full circle) the accents of red (her outfit, the couch, his shirt at the end, to name a few) them both being each other’s unfinished business, the character growth to becoming “alive” again, him getting back into his passion, her stepping back to enjoy the little things in life, them touching hands, that rooftop kiss scene? The way they get each other at a fundamental level, the way they care about each other? Ugh what a masterpiece
