I think there will be a wedding and I think that's ok.
Here's the thing. There will be a wedding, because she has a little further to go before she sets this place aflame. I don't think they will get legally married, but I do think there will be a wedding.
Every move TS has made since 2022 has been about amassing power. Her re-record project both brought lapsed fans back into the fold and created millions and millions of new fans who were experiencing albums like Red and Fearless for the first time. The Eras tour gave fans a place to relive all the memories of her career, while also showing the world that she is THE most dominant force in the industry.
Just months after the tour ended, she announced that she now owns 100% of her art, a massive feat for anyone in the music industry, but especially someone with a catalog that expansive.
Tayvis brought her an entirely new demographic, too - the NFL demographic. And Tayvis has kept her not just her fanbase engaged and obsessed through all of it, but the whole world. Even people that hate her are obsessed with talking about the wedding.
Taylor has described writing IKI,IKY as "like coming home." It's a country song, a genre she has only briefly dipped her toes into since going fully pop on 1989. And she is flagging Debut as her next re-release. That re-release and the country vault tracks will bring her back into the center of country music, and I think Travis is a part of that. Sure, she went off and did the pop star thing, was single, partied with her girlfriends. But look at her now, settled down with a man and returning to the genre that expects women to do exactly that.
It's the final piece of power she's making a play for. She has the biggest and most loyal fandom in the world, and even people who hate her are obsessed with talking about her. After she "marries" Travis, after she re-releases Debut, she will truly have all eyes on her.
And that is when she will light the fuse that blows it all up.
I think Karlie is a major factor in the timing of this plan, too. I don't know what the narrative will be when Tayvis splits up, but whatever it is, I think it will lead to a public reigniting of Karlie and Taylor's "friendship."
On the one hand, the narrative could be that Travis did something awful and that she is soooo heartbroken, and Tree can plant stories about how she is seeking refuge in her friendship with Karlie, who has been so supportive and present for her in the aftermath.
On the other hand, I think it's very possible, even likely, that Taylor ends Tayvis in a way that is publicly, undeniably, her fault. She will use the end of the fauxmance to make herself the villain (in my dreams, she literally leaves him at the altar in front of 1200 of the most famous people in the world, but I know better than to hope for something like that).
She then uses that to pivot into Karma/Rep vault tracks, which will be the fire that burns this shit down. I think making herself the villain that destroys her fans' perfect fairytale ending would also take the heat off Karlie and would allow for a public reconnecting.
This is all just my speculations, of course. But I do think we should be prepared for the spectacle of a fake wedding. And I don't think that means that she's intending to continue the facade forever.
