this is a post about typos
You could basically just pretend the manager guy for A-maze in that movie is Stringer.
also it is like hallucination here because, there is a fun fact: Nasir Jones' voice and Jamie Hector have basically 80% similarity across accent/pitch/style/even speed. It is driving me crazy in this movie.
no spoiler summary:
a-maze is an aging (not exactly age but kind of flop) rapper pushed by studio to make successful new songs to save his career. he also got caught up in a borderline gang fight beef with another rapper (someone else not of importance anyway)
gary is his producer, he kept grinding him to make an indie label to save him from being a flop, getting newbies to work for him.
eastie is the newbie gary got his eyes on, struggling young rapper hustling with local haitian gangs. gary is trying to negotiate a label deal with eastie (*cough cough* remind you of anything? "here's what im offering man")

accompaniment (Ella Fitzgerald version of the song)
So I record this again, wow you can hear the clicking sound from my laptop from the start.
The song was originally written by George Gershwin (Lyrics by Ira Gershwin) for 1926 Musical “Oh, Kay”. And Became a Jazz standard.
Here is my vocal cover without accompaniment.
(it is bad tho, enjoy)
The accompanying music is from the awesome version done by Madame Dianne Reeves.
Disfruten!.

Am I a nerd? Yes I'm a nerd, and I made peace with it.
It's been hell of a year. I'm being squeezed by capitalism the whole year around and active and stressful and whatnot. But it's also a great year I've connected my interests in culture allllll together! (Cécile Mclorin Salvant, Maxwell, Jamie Hector, you could easily guess there's something in common about them but not something major media is willing to represent unless they themselves fought about it)
One of my favourite of Cécile's. It's funny that jazz media in my country only promoted the french side of her heritage, and yet she had two kreyòl songs in this album.
The final track of this album, the original language was written in Occitan, translated into Kreyòl (Haitian Creole) by her father Alix Salvant. She performed two songs in Kreyòl in this album to honour her multicultural heritage.
She's one of the leading voices in modern jazz world, and certainly one of my favourites throughout my years of love in jazz.
