Somebody had an amusing accusation after watching a couple [episodes] of [The Wire]. They said that, when it came to personal relationships on the show, our gay relationships were actually the healthiest and that all of our heterosexual relationships were dysfunctional, and what were we trying to say?
Since we sort of had arced out certain outcomes for various relationships, we were sort of surprised by the criticism. We realized it sort of had seemed that way initially, but I think over time, you’re gonna find out that the general view of The Wire is that there are no healthy relationships.
Some of them stay healthy for a while—we’re not entirely without hope.
