A majority of millennial men failed to see women as equals, according to the study, which looked at how college biology students viewed their classmates’ intelligence and achievements, the Harvard Business Review reported.

Among the findings:

In every biology class surveyed, a man was seen as the most celebrated student, even in instances where women earned significantly better grades.

Men were also found to overestimate the intelligence of their male classmates over that of female ones.

Men continued exaggerating their assessments of the male peers, despite unequivocal evidence that their female peers were performing better.

Women, conversely, weren’t found to display a bias: Their assessments of fellow classmates tended to be spot-on.

The National Institutes of Health researchers pointed out that female STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) majors drop out at significantly higher rates than their male counterparts.

“The reasons for this difference are complex, and one possible contributing factor is the social environment women experience in the classroom,” they wrote.

Still, scores of men are under the impression that they’ve become the target of reverse sexism. Conservative columnist John Hawkins ranted in Town Hall last year:

“Men have it rougher in America than most people realize. In part, that’s because they’re one of the few groups (along with white people, conservatives, and Christians) it’s cool to crap on at every opportunity. In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a nonstop assault on masculinity in America.”

But research has confirmed the reality of gender bias against women. A staggering 90 percent of women reported experiencing gender harassment in the workplace, a 2010 University of Michigan study found. The results suggest that such harassment had the purpose of driving women out of jobs and not the generally assumed motivation of trying to draw women into relationships.

“One could argue that, in these instances, ‘sexual harassment is used both to police and discipline the gender outlaw: the woman who dares to do a man’s job is made to pay,’” the researchers wrote, quoting an article by Katherine M. Franke, an associate professor of law at the University of Arizona College of Law.

As for millennial men specifically, they have been less accepting of female leaders than their older male counterparts, according to a 2014 survey of more than 2,000 adults residing in the United States, the Harvard Business Review reports.

Half of Millenial men said their careers would take priority over their partners’.

Dress like a little old lady and bring back a little grace to your life. It takes thin little frocks in fabrics for all season, new or second-hand; warmed up with wooly things next to the skin, cardigans and old furs, all shoulders, or old-looking brand-new furs. Flapper hats, lace-up shoes, fine jewels and a handbag to hang on to for dear life.

Despite the fact that I am not from Fort McMurray (Alberta, Canada), but rather from a neighbouring province, I was unable to get any sleep last night due to the fact that I was too busy worrying myself sick about how the citizens of this city and surrounding areas must be feeling right now. 

If you are not already aware, the entire city of Fort McMurray is currently evacuated due to blazing, horrendous wild fires. Blazes are moving quickly, leaving several of the 80 000+ citizens without homes.  Authorities say that today (Wednesday) is only going to be worse.

Homes are being lost, buildings are burning to the ground, gas stations are quickly being run dry, wildlife is dying, and the fires are spreading with every passing second due to the winds and high temperatures.

Fortunately enough, however, no casualties have been reported, and it seems as though everyone has been safely evacuated from the city at this time.

Things are not looking very good for Fort McMurray, and it breaks my heart to know that so many helpless civilians and animals will be left without homes, food, clothing, possessions, and much more. The disastrous effects caused to this major oil industry city are only beginning, and its civilians can do nothing more than to hope and pray that they will be able to return home sometime soon.

The Albertan city of Fort McMurray is in serious need right now of not only rain, but of thoughts and prayers, as well. Please, as you go on about your day today, take a moment to even do so much as message a victim of the blazing flames via social media, reassuring them that everything will be okay, or by spreading awareness of the current situation, if possible. 

And for those of you who are directly affected by the wild fires who might be reading this right now, please, do know that although things might never be able to go back to how they once were, you will be able to return, and you will be able to continue to live your life with happiness and ease. It is going to take some time, but as long as you keep on keeping on, I can promise you that everything will be okay.

You are not alone in this, Fort McMurray. Stay safe, and stay strong! <3

Yet another study confirms the trend: Younger people are less and less likely to think of themselves as exclusively heterosexual or – for that matter – belonging to one of the poles of the gender binary only.

The survey, of Americans aged 13-20 (Generation Z), has found that only 48% of them identify as “exclusively heterosexual”.

It turns out sexual orientation and gender identity are more like continuums, after all. Or maybe something even more complex.

In comparison with millennials aged 21 to 34, the younger generation – known as Gen Z – were found to be more open-minded and permissive than the group just a few years older…

Using a scale of zero to six, where zero represented “exclusively heterosexual” and six “exclusively homosexual”, over a third of Gen Z respondents picked a number other than zero or six.

The youngest ones are also strongly transpositive:

Over 70% of 13 to 20-year-olds strongly agreed that public spaces should be required to provide gender neutral bathrooms, which compared to only a little over half of millennials.

In another article about the stud,  Teens These Days Are Queer AF, Vice adds this about gender:

Fifty-six percent of 13-to-20-year-olds said that they knew someone who went by gender neutral pronouns such as “they,” “them,” or “ze,” compared to 43 percent of people aged 28 to 34 years old. Over a third of Gen Z respondents also strongly agreed that gender did not define a person as much as it used to. This figure dropped to 23 percent among millennials who were 28 and up.

Last year another study found that 43% of Brits aged 18 to 24 years old were bisexual.

That study clearly documented that the younger you get, the less likely you are to consider yourself purely heterosexual.
