The Joker being a big pop culture icon is something that sits really wrong with me. Because people (esp ppl who haven’t read any/much of comics) recognize him as just the Joker from the Batman movies, or just the Joker from the animated series that u watched as a kid, or just as the goofy PG/PG-13 Joker w/ the green hair and dumb smile from television. They don’t recognize him as the abusive boyfriend, or as the man that murdered a child in cold blood and spite, or the the man that shot, paralyzed and sexually assaulted a hero, or as the man that literally murders innocent people just because he wants to. They don’t recognize him as the  piece of shit that he is because they only know the toned down PG-13 joker. And the joker is not PG-13 and he is not just some character that’s just all shits and giggles. And the thing is like?? ppl don’t know that side of the joker that kills kids and abuses innocent people bc he’s a “big pop culture icon”. Like go into some fucking hot topic and find shirts with him and Harley on them. Like that shit is bad. Yes they were canonly a thing but it was a disgusting relationship and not one that should be seen as innocent and playful. And Like. Yeah he’s an iconic villain and yeah his CHARACTER is good. he’s not good as a PERSON but his character IS something that people can like and find interesting and like to read about. And if someone DOES like his character, that doesn’t put them in the wrong and it doesn’t make them gross for it. I wish people would stop romanticizing the Joker and his relationship with Harley, and I wish that people would recognize how ABUSIVE and BAD the Joker as a person is in GENERAL. And again if you like the Joker for his CHARACTER and not HIM as a PERSON that’s fine but if you go as far as to call him “baby” or “Daddy” or actually love his personality, that’s what’s considered problematic. Because you’re romanticizing a literal murderer. Like.?? Tbh Idk where I’m even getting with this bc I’ve jumped off subject so much but lmao ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ anyways lol
