I remember a couple of days before you passed away. You told me that if I ever wanted to be with you all I would have to do is close my eyes and we’d be together. You said that memories exist outside of time and have no beginning or end. You said as long as I live you’ll be with me forever. I miss you, Dad. I miss you until I close my eyes.

Oh, I don’t expect you to understand. You’re happy. You have a true, good life, and you’re free. Free and safe. Safe… I don’t even know what that is anymore.
