A kiss is a very powerful thing, even in fairytales and lore of the past the power of kisses are told of (true love’s kiss, siren/mermaid kiss, first kiss, etc). a kiss can be a powerful tool for any witch. Here are a few suggestions for using kisses and the power they hold.

Use a kiss to charge objects: crystals, tarot cards, charms, amulets, etc etc. Use it to send your emotions and energy into the object. Love is a good emotion, but any positive energies you wish to charge the object with can be transferred this way. Adding your love to something can really give it a boost as well! Especially if it is for another to use. (Note: do not kiss toxic stones please! Be safe and smart)

Spell Sealing: Use a kiss to magically seal spells such as jar and bottle spells or use it to strengthen a (cooled!) wax seal. Imagine placing the kiss its like placing an invisible seal upon it, stamping in energy to lock th spell inside. 

For Air and Wind spells: For all of my fellow witches who use air and wind spells, blowing a kiss after a chant or spell to summon a wind in the direction you wish it to blow is a good way to guide the wind but also show it positive reinforcement. Use it to show your gratitude for the wind’s cooperation. It is best for gentler wind spells.

Glamour and Beauty spells: Kiss the mirror after a beauty or glamour spell. Thank the mirror for its aid and seal any negativity into it. It also a wonderful way to reflect love back at yourself!

Love Spells: Kisses are great for powering up love spells! Kiss a candle before lighting it (careful if you are using essential oils be sure not to kiss where they are), kiss the written name of the one you desire, kiss a charm or amulet to help bring love into your life, and finally blow a kiss when finishing the the spell to close it.

Kitchen Magic: blow a kiss to finish a dish (don’t be too close though, don’t want to spread germs) to put a final charge of love into it before serving it to others. Good for with tea and coffee spells too!

Public Magic: Want to remain discrete while casting a spell in public? Blow a kiss! Its much subtler than pointing or hand motions, especially if it is a positive spell you are casting on another or a friend but it is also good for curses, either way its a wonderful way to send your intentions. Whisper the words or chant needed for the spell (if any) under your breath, imagine them them gathering in an orb of energy at your lips as you do so. Then do a subtle kiss motion on your lips (no hands and no ‘fish lips’, you are trying to be subtle). Then release the energy and words towards the target with a gentle blow of breath, sending the ball of energy in that direction.

Mourning/Remembrance Rituals: Ending such a ritual with a blown kiss to close it can help release your feelings in a positive manner and close the ritual with love and sincerity. 

With spring over the horizon, flowers will be blooming and it’ll be a great time to collect or buy some for your supplies. This is mostly a list of flowers you’ll find growing wild in most places, with some common ones you can find in either parks or stores. Feel free to add to the list!

And I can’t stop thinking about how this is literally the spooky equivalent of a guy on a first date getting mad at you if you want his last name and plates number to give your friend before you let him drive you somewhere.

Make sure you understand the basics of magick : Most of us, sharing our spells and rituals on Tumblr, do not include the basics of magick in every single post. 

Do your own research outside of Tumblr : If you find a “witch tip” and it doesn’t give much explanation on why you’re suppose to use a certain herb, crystal, moon phase, tool etc., then do your own research and find out why. A lot of times witches share spells and they don’t give a detailed description of everything you need because they assume you already know why you need these things or why they’re being used in a particular spell or ritual.

Don’t assume magick is the only thing they’re doing : When you see a spell to help someone find employment, don’t assume that a spell is all the witch is doing and don’t assume this spell is all you have to do. Most witches understand that magick works with the mundane. Much like if you see an anti depression spell (or tea or something along those lines) don’t assume they are advocating for replacing medicine with magick. You’ll usually find that they’re suggesting using magick in conjunction with medicine. 

Ask for clarification if you need it : Most witches on Tumblr are kind and helpful. If you have a question about a spell, ritual, recipe or whatever don’t be shy about asking the witch who shared it for clarification. I’ve found that witches on Tumblr are eager to help and don’t mind answering politely asked questions.

Take everything with a grain of salt : Sometimes things come of as preachy, gate keeping, authoritarian etc. If someone is “preaching” to you or you feel like what they’re saying isn’t sitting well with your beliefs, that’s okay. Don’t take everything as absolute and don’t let people bully you into thinking or believing a certain way. As nice as most of us witches on Tumblr are, there’s always a few rotten fruit laying around. 

Don’t be afraid to explore the community : Talk to different people. Ask 5 different witches the same question and if how much their answers vary. To truly get an understanding of just how unique every witches path is. 

How to see faeries:

Wearing one’s coat inside out.

Wearing a posy of primroses.

A four leaf clover crushed and put into an ointment may give one sight of the Faeries as well as placing Faerie Ointment on the eyelids.

Bending over and looking backwards through your legs.

Looking through a Fir knot hole.

Looking through a loop made with a Rowan twig may cause Faerie sight.

Looking through a hag stone. 

Meditating on a daily basis.

Averting one’s vision.

Dawn, moon, dusk, and midnight are the best times for faerie sightings.

Believe - faeries will most likely not show themselves to non-believers.

Have good intention - faeries can sense it.

A while ago I made a bunch of new pies. Well, I didn’t *make* them because they were neural network invented titles and although it tried to imitate the list of pies I gave it, the neural net’s imitations are imperfect.

The neural network, after all, is a computer program with about as many neurons as an earthworm. It doesn’t understand what the ingredients are, or why some combinations don’t work. Some of its titles were intriguing, though. They sounded mysterious. Potentially delicious and/or magical?

Or maybe it just helps that they’re vague. I decided I wanted more like these. To help it along, I spiced up the pie dataset with the names of cookies and apple varieties from the 1905 edition of Apples of New York. I filtered the names for those that had possessives: Mcaffee’s Nonesuch, Cornell’s Savewell, Wile Ox’s Winter (all apples), combined with Goldy’s Dungeon Bars, Esther’s Bracelets, and Fido’s Rewards (all cookies). Then, to give it added old-school flavor, I added all the Dungeons and Dragons spells that had possessives as well (for example, Ivy’s Irresistible Scent, Freedom’s Toast, and Leomund’s Tiny Hut).

I arranged the training data so the pies would be last (so they would be freshest in the neural net’s virtual mind). Then I gave it one single look at the data.

It turns out that I didn’t manage to prevent the neural net from coming up with bad ideas. Perhaps what I should have done instead was remove all the meat pies from the training data.

But some of the pies were exactly what I’d hoped for.

And some even went a little past “ancient” and into “legendary”

during the colder months, a cup of hot cocoa can bring wonderful warmth and coziness. you can add a few spices to bring magick into the mug that inspires happiness, healing, and self-love. you will need:

☾ ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (self love and grounding)

☾ ½ cup granulated sugar (granting wishes)

☾ 1/3 cup hot water

☾ ¼ tsp salt

☾ 4 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)

☾ 1 tsp vanilla extract (love, restoring lost energy)

☾ 1 tsp fresh orange zest (abundance and happiness)

☾ a pinch of ground nutmeg (attracting prosperity)

☾ a pinch of allspice (warmth and healing)

combine the cocoa, sugar, salt, nutmeg and allspice with the water in a pot over medium heat. stir constantly until the mixture boils; continue stirring constantly for 1 more minute.
