The Forest & The Moon
The Forest & The MoonĀ by C.R Greenway
It calls to me, faintly, only but a whisper.Ā
Only when the moon is at itās fullest, when its at its biggest and brightest moment does it appear before me.Ā
It beckons me, like a sirens song to a sailor, a moth drawn to a flame, angels to heaven, for that is how it makes me feel, heaven on earth, or maybe itās not of this earth.Ā
Maybe thats why it beckons me to it.Ā
An urge I simply canāt control.
The scent of pine, and damp soil feel my nose to the brim, I lay on my back on this forest floor, just till it makes me feel whole again.Ā
I look to the sky, a shimmering star filled, moon bright sky.Ā
You can barely see, for all the branches and trees that just seem to go on forever, they reach out to you, but I can still see her there in the moon, calling out to me to stay, to leave everything behind.Ā
Itās getting harder to resist her charm and beauty.Ā
The embrace of the forest is no help, I can feel the safety in his arms, as he holds me closer to him, pulling me further into his soil.Ā
It only makes me want to stay, to place my roots into his soul, for here I have everything I long for, the moon, the forest, and love without chains, and most importantly love without pain.Ā
They donāt tell me hurtful things like what a failure i am, or how unwanted i am, they simply reassure me.Ā
They donāt kick me when im already down they hold me till im safe and warm once more.
Oh how i wish i could stay, but just as quickly as they appear, they leave me behind, just like everyone else, to survive in this dark moonless forest once more, scared and alone, oh how wish this place was more than a dream.
