Ok so in the early 1900s there’s this dude named Franz Ferdinand and then there’s some peeps that wanna kill him. They all get together one day to kill him while he’s in his car. The first one was a pussy and chickened out and the second one threw a grenade but forgot to factor in the delay so it blew up way passed his car so he took cyanide and jumped into a river but the cyanide was expired and therefore useless and the river was like six inches deep. The rest of them were like “fuck this” and went to get a sandwich. However, Ferdinand’s driver took a wrong turn and was like “oh well I’ll just turn around at this sandwich shop” and the guys were like “oh shit isn’t that the guy we’re trying to kill” and they shot him starting WW1.

The Germans got their asses handed to them in WW1 causing them to get all butthurt and put hitler into power. Around this time Japan was trying to take over eastern Asia (basically just a small portion of China but its the thought that counts) and Germany was like “hey do you guys wanna be friends and take over the world together?” And Japan was like “hell ya my dude” and WW2 started. Also Italy was there. Anyway Germany/Japan/Italy all got their asses kicked and much like post WW1 Germany, Japan got a much stricter government. Their new strict government outlawed porn but the people of Japan were horny and one guy was like “hey guys do you remember those American soldiers that were just here kicking our asses? Well they brought these things called comic books so maybe we could make porn in comic book style” thus the birth of hentai. But then the government tried to ban that because it still showed dicks and dicks weren’t allowed so they started drawing porn with any relitively dick shaped object, the most popular being tentacles. It became so popular that even after the porn ban was lifted people continued making tentacle porn because it was such a widespread fetish.

So there you have it:

HOKAY, *SO*. A lot of shit’s been changing over the past few days-to-weeks surrounding What Pumpkin, Homestuck, and Hiveswap, and I feel like rambling about it a little. Dunno if I have a specific “point” to make with this post, but we’ll see where it takes us.

First off, to get it out of the way, I don’t despise the site redesign. I’m really glad that the flashes and games are being converted to newer file types, because I’ll be honest, I was a little worried about those disappearing once Flash gets phased out. It’s also neat that you can enjoy it on mobile now, so that’s cool. There are some things, of course, that seem to have been lost in translation, which is unfortunate, but for the most part, I am not completely against the changes, especially given the good things that are happening as a result of them. What I’m not too keen on is the pop-up ads. They are intrusive on the reading experience, and I would much prefer either regular banner or sidebar ads.

Now, it’s time to turn our attention to some of the less exciting happenings that have been going on. Let’s talk about Hiveswap. In case you guys are unaware, recently a large number of people (seemingly the entire team) have “left” What Pumpkin. We were previously aware of James and Phil leaving, but as of today, it appears that Toby, Cohen, Shelby, and most likely others that I am personally not aware of, have also left. In addition, any information relating to What Pumpkin as a company has been scrubbed from Hiveswap.com, as well as any related sites. This is very concerning to me. 

There are a lot of questions I have right now. The most obvious of which being, what’s going to happen with acts 3 and 4? What about Hauntswitch? Are they all cancelled? If not, who’s working on them? Is ANYONE from the old staff still on the project? Is Hussie even still involved in any capacity?

That last question is perhaps the one I’m most curious about. The new site doesn’t help assuage my concerns much either. VIZ was behind the most recent news posting on Homestuck.com, instead of Hussie as it is normally, and VIZ Media is now included in the copyright info at the bottom of the page. And with all these people leaving What Pumpkin, I’m really hoping the same hasn’t happened to Hussie. As far as I’m concerned, Homestuck, as well as anything related to it, are Hussie’s projects. If he isn’t there to, at the very least, oversee them, any new content that is released doesn’t “count” in my opinion. I’m also really curious about what this means for the epilogue, as I know it’s been said that VIZ is assisting with that as well.

Hi! I keep finding myself interested in brand new (to me) homestuck projects that i was never aware of, even though i’ve been in the fandom since 2013. So here I am, making a list of Homestuck related things still going on in the year of our lorde 2018. Most of these things have discords that are pretty cool and informative. You can most likely find them through the links given, but for some reason i don’t feel comfortable linking them here. May change that in the future.  Now, In no particular order… Homestuck explained: Making Homestuck’s confusing nature accessible to a casual audience. Farragofiction: Overarching website that is home to great projects like Sburbsim (Sburb story generator), Wigglersim (Raise your own grubs in the brooding cavern!), Dollsim (Create homestuck sprites using like,,, a lot of parts. V. cool., and many other smaller projects! (Website) (Creator)

MSPFA: Yep, it’s still a thing. Cool fanventures are still happening, and instead of linking them individualy, I’ll just put them all under the website. Explore, read, create your own fanventure, go nuts. (Website)

Overseer v2/Rebuild:

Playable text based version of sburb! pick your classpect, make sessions with friends, alchemise stuff, loot in dungeons, etc, etc, etc.  Devs are currently overhauling the whole game, which is why the v2 website hasn’t updated much, but rest assured, it’s still A Thing ™. Plus v2, for what it is, is still extremely cool. (Playable with friends in a chain) (Website) 

The Genesis project:  Playable homestuck, basically. Create a character, explore your house, have a guardian, enter the game, fight monsters, alchemize cool weapons. Very close to the actual visual sprite style of homestuck but like,,,, you can run around and do things. (Playable with friends in a chain) (Tumblr)

Sburbmon: A homestuck reskin of Pokemon fire red. Name your favorite characters dumbass names and go around as Andrew Hussie, making them strife. Almost every conceivable homestuck character is a playable mon you can add to your party.  (Tumblr)

Minestuck: A minecraft mod that adds Sburb to the game! Start out in a regular world, create a home base, and travel to the medium and explore your planet. In minecraft, ya’ll. (Playable with friends in a chain)

A whole weeks worth of effort! Except that big troll call picture, that took so long. I got the idea from my love of aspects of Homestuck, and wanted to make that into a comic.
