It’s Blu!!

I didn’t put too much thought into her because I just really wanted to get to drawing lol

She’s a mime but she has a voicebox, at first she’s totally mute, and Caine tries to give her a speech bubble with captions, but gives up pretty quickly, so her speech bubble just has ASL in it. But once she finds out what the pull-string does, she can talk!! Kinda.. it only copies what she most recently heard.

Eventually she realizes it’s connected to her memory, so she unintentionally conjures so that she can say anything someone else told her in the circus in the past! People, especially zooble (which is unfortunate since theyre the only one who can understand ASL) gets uncomfortable with Blu essentially stealing everyone’s words and voices, and she gets isolated from everyone but Ragatha, who tries VERY HARD to stay friends with her even if the voice thing makes her uncomfortable.

During the adventure-speedrun episode, everyone voted for Blu to get her own voice, and after much pestering, Caine lets her keep that ability!! Unfortunately, she feels betrayed by the isolation still, so she never quite gets as close with everyone as she was before all this happened. Before the circus she was a grief counselor, so she ends up accidentally becoming the circus therapist. All of this leads to her feeling quite terrible all the time, because she is essentially trapped in a world of never-ending work and never feeling like she can make any real bonds with any other person in the circus because she just sees them as clients who live with her now because of how they all unintentionally (or intentionally) treat her. She wants to love everyone, but she’s exhausted, her only relief coming from kinger, who she enjoys hanging around because (in dark OR light) she doesn’t feel like she needs to council him all the time like she does with the others.

WIP backstory from before the circus is she was a grief councilor and her trauma is that one day she learned one of her clients couldn’t take it and offed-themselves. The client left notes for some of the people in their life, and to Blu, the only thing the note said was “I’m sorry. it’s not your fault.” And nothing else. She’s torn apart by the lack of explanation and feeling like she failed this person, which is why she struggles to ‘turn off work mode’ when she’s around the others. Her biggest fear is someone abstracting while she’s in the circus because she would see it as her fault again and like she failed them.

First ever drawing of her below! Obviously some things have changed from this first draft, but she still looks exactly like this visually for now :3
