i think the positive flip side of the coin that is roy's abandonment issues would be that he's very taken by displays of commitment and possessiveness of the "i'm his" variety (as opposed to the "he's mine" variety). and what's more, i posit that this could shake out very nicely in a jayroy situation, because i think jason would enjoy feeling so desired and secure that he's confident in asserting himself as belonging in the relationship. things like jason going out as a civilian wearing things which, to anyone halfway familiar with them, are identifiably roy's and not his. roy's sunglasses. one of the dumb hats (the trucker hats i mean. this is not bycocket slander). an old great frog tee. they are not married and have no plans to be, but jason acquires a (singular) ring — initially, he later swears, for an undercover gig as a dashing young widow. but then roy sees him with it on again for a different mission, and again when his siblings drag him out for a night on the town, and again just to go to the grocery store. and roy's starting to get nervous, wondering if this has all been a series of increasingly unsubtle and pointed hints (despite the previous joint decision against that whole prospect), when jason notices him mildly freaking out and assures him that he just...he likes signalling his unavailability. likes wearing a big flashing neon sign saying "don't even try it, chucklefuck. i belong to someone already". another time they're semi-deliberately snowed into a remote cabin, and they're huddling in front of the fire with the unspoken agreement that in ten minutes they'll instead be canoodling in front of the fire, when out of the blue and entirely unprompted, jason turns to roy — flames dancing in the reflections of his eyes — and says "you should heat an arrow over the coals and then brand me with it". and roy tries extremely hard to say No And Also You Cannot Just Say These Things To Me. but alas he only gets as far as "ngh"
hey everypony !! since i’m supporting the DCblackout boycott, i figured i’d make a small info post with links and summaries !!
DCblackout:
DCblackout is the second stage of the DCsowhite discussion that took place earlier this year, which pointed out that DC hasn’t publtished a solo, on-going black title in over 1200 days
DCblackout has 3 main goals: 1. establish and announce 1-3 black on-going titles (with black creative teams) that have cancellation immunity for a minimum of 2 years, 2. educate fans on how sales work so they can accurately support the titles they love, & 3. greenlight a power company book if the titles do well (which would help a fanbase grow)
the goal of DCblackout is to raise awareness of the lack of black DC stories and give fans heroes they can relate to and see themselves in.
blackgirlnerds.com
their official public statement is as follows:
bleedingcool.com
DCsowhite and why now:
DCsowhite brought attention to the fact that there has been no black on-going title in over 1200 days. the last title was ‘I Am Batman’, which ran from 2021-2023 and ended on its #18 issue.
dc heavily relies on mini-runs or one shots for black characters, and black female characters receive even less.
james portis III (aka JPenumbra) posted a piece to comicsbeat.com focusing on the issue.
comicbeats.com
this has been an issue for a long time, but it doesn’t have to continue this way !! below is a link to the DCblackout petition, and blow that are links to JPenumbra’s original piece, the DCblackout website, and blackgirlnerds.com and bleedingcool.com’s pieces (in that order).
#DCSoWhite: End the Black Superhero Drought
It has now been 1171 days since the last time DC published an ongoing series for a Black character in their mainline continuity
DCBlackout - a DC Comics boyocott.
Following the viral #DCSoWhite conversation, creators demand sustained investment, visibility, and accountability for Black representation
DC Blackout: a DC Comics fan boycott launches after 1200 days without an ongoing DC Universe comic book series with a black lead character

If you're in the US, now is a great time to talk to the young people in your life about the US military:
The recruiter is not your friend. The military employs child psychologists to learn how to make you think the recruiter is your friend.
The recruiter is allowed to lie to you and makes more money if they do.
The recruiter is paid a commission to groom children into cannon fodder.
The recruiter will tell you you're special and will go into special smart soldier programs instead of combat. They're lying.
The recruiter may tell you they can tell if someone can get PTSD or not and only recruit people like you, who won't. They're lying.
The recruiter may tell you you'll be too busy attending free college (!!) to go overseas. They're lying.
The recruiter may ask what countries you want to travel to and promise you bougie placements on military bases in those countries. They're lying.
Even "It's just four years!" is a lie - the government is allowed to hold you past your enlistment period with a stop-loss order.
The recruiter actually has zero power to decide anything that happens to you after you enlist and they more importantly don't care what happens to you.
If you enlist, you will be brainwashed to make you willing to do things to other humans that you would never be willing to do today.
You will be ordered to do things that will kill children. And you'll do them.
The military is not the only way or even the best way for you to go to college or start a career.
Military brainwashing will actually make you into a terrible university student because it degrades your ability to think critically and question your sources.
Having PTSD and/or a TBI will make it harder to be a student and keep a job.
Veterans' benefits suck these days.
Being a veteran drastically increases your risk of homelessness, suicide, alcohol and drug dependence, prison time, and becoming an abuser to your loved ones.
The military will expose you to chemicals that will drastically increase your chances of developing cancer.
The military will withhold information about your rights to conscientiously object after enlisting.
A lot can change in four years.
All of this!
If you want an organization who WILL tell you the truth about your rights to conscientiously object, how to legally get out of the DEP (Delayed Entry Program) or about any of your other rights in the military (whether you’re enlisted, thinking about enlisting, or a family member or friend of someone enlisted (or thinking about enlisting)), who will do it confidentially & for free, you want the
GI Rights Hotline
run by NGOs & non-profits, which has been counseling folks for DECADES now:
Are you in the military or thinking about joining? Are you unsure of where to get reliable answers? Call the GI Rights Hotline at 1-877-447-
Or by phone:
1-877-447-4487
Even if all the person you're speaking to cares about is the money, the money sucks.
Minimum wage in California just went up to $16.90. You need to be rank E4 or be E3 with at least 3 years of service before you're making more than the CA minimum wage in the military.
You will literally get better pay and benefits working at a costco. (And that's not even accounting for the fact that the military isn't a 40 hour work week, your entire life is on the clock)
I cannot emphasize this enough, if you're a desperate young queer person you will make better money, get better healthcare, and have more affordable options for school if you move to California, get a job at costco, live with roommates, and go to community college than you will have if you join the US military.
Part 1 of a collection of Steph sketches.
