There are some actors that I think shouldn't be used for movies or shows with a specific kind of setting. Things like medieval fantasy or SCI-FI stuff. And I don't mean anything to do with an actors skin colour or race or anything like that.

No, what I mean is that if you put Jack Black into a Star Wars movie, I'm not going to see him as "D'Tarri, pilot for the New Republic" or whatever he's playing. I'm just gonna see him as Jack Black. My immersion is ruined. WHAT IS MINECRAFT STEVE DOING IN STAR WARS?? 😭

I think my favorite thing about the backrooms movie is how much it doesn't hold your hand and over explain things to you. you as an audience member have to figure stuff out on your own via context clues and your own thought process.

It's something I really love to see, because I really love it when a film actually trusts the audience to listen and pay attention to the film and actually figure things out.

The film never throws too many questions that it becomes hard to figure out, the movie doesn't overwhelm you with lore and questions (which is also great) but it gives you enough questions for you to start wondering about the backrooms and you should feel about it.

i really love the motif of windows in Backrooms. mary’s book being called “the window within”. the curtains in her office always being drawn. the shot of her behind glass in her own home during the gathering at her house. clark looking through the window into his own house. him being unable to see kat through the glass she can see him through. the window in mary’s mother’s house. the windows in the hospital her mother is brought to that only look out to another building. the drawing that mary finds of captain clark reaching someone up towards a window. the fale window in clark’s “home” in the backrooms that just looks out to more of the same empty space. the window in the interrogation room that’s too high to see out of (and thus to determine if it’s real). the fact that the backrooms lacks any windows to a true “outside space”, and how terrifying that makes it. there is no window within. or, at least, not one that any of them can find

I can't be the only one frustrated when I see people completely overlooking Mary's story in The Backrooms movie.

I love Clark to death. He's such an interesting character, but MARY IS TOO!!! GIVER HER SOME GOD DAMN CREDIT!

SHE IS THE YING TO CLARK'S YANG! Her backstory with her abusive, mentally unstable mother serving as the driving force for her becoming a therapist. The way she kinda sees some resemblance to her mother in Clark's mental spiral downwards because of The Backrooms. The way that her obsession (hey, I know that movie!) with the past mirrors Clark's own obsession with his past. The way she so desperately wants to help Clark because of that reminder he gives her about her mother, but deep down doesn't know HOW to help him! Because he refuses to ACCEPT help and accountability!

THE WAY SHE SMASHED THE LAST REMINDER OF HER CHILDHOOD AGAINST PIRATE CLARK'S HEAD AS A SYMBOL OF HER FINALLY MOVING ON FROM HER OBSESSION OF HOLDING ONTO A TERRIBLE CHILDHOOD??? You're telling me that's not important enough???

I quite like how Kane weaved The Backrooms movie into the world and lore of the original series he made on YouTube, instead of making it a separate movie-only timeline.

I think it shows that he sees his YouTube series as something more than just a stepping stone for getting into the film industry.

Makes people who were invested in his original series feel rewarded for staying with it for so long. It also shows that Kane sees his YouTube series as on the same level as this big budget horror movie and treats it respectfully instead of tossing it aside.
