Deltarune pondering after having finished ch 5 [I have not played/watched any weird route stuff]
I'm curious about the history between Kris and Noelle.
From context clues in all 5 chapters, we can assume they often terrorized her with pranks and teasing and jokes.
And regardless of ur preferred ship, its clear kris has some sort of difficult feelings surrounding Noelle, especially early ch5
At the beginning of ch 5 if you keep examining the bookshelf in the hall of the Dreemur house, it cycles thru various photos from past festivals. It describes all photos EXCEPT photos of Kris and Noelle- they always shut the book before they describe what those photos show.
Also - in ch 5 in noelles house when suzie and Noelle chat about Ferris Wheels - and Noelle mentions the feeling of "being forced".......
I think lotsa ppl may interpret this to mean "Kris forced her to ride with them" which makes sense, but I'm forming a diff theory based on my own childhood...
I'm lowkey wondering if the parents were the ones forcing the kids to be together?
I remember being friends with a boy in elementary school and all the grownups would ALWAYS TEASE US about being boyfriend and girlfriend and it genuinely pissed me off and made me avoid him. He was my FRIEND!!
I also didnt know I was queer, back in those days [But the closet door WAS made of thin air, when i think back on it] So I'm wondering if Noelle and Kris had to deal with the same kinda nonsense - especially since Des and Asriel were clearly behaving very lovey-dovey-style together back then.
I wouldn't be surprised if they had a strained relationship all because the parents assumed they would get along as well as des and azzy did, and neither of them wanted that, but also neither of them were able to say or do anything about it.
Then Noelle seems hopeful, that someone understands her. Then he says "Kris is FORCING YOU to do this" and immediately she's like "no wait just listen to me-"
Also I'm going thru penny snapcubes playthru again and literally just as I was writing these thoughts down I hear the part in cyberworld where Berdley says to Noelle "going along with all this... you feel forced, don't you?"
I wouldn't be surprised if its like a double layer - maybe this is a reflection of how her and kris' parents treated them when they were small?
Especially if they were young enough that Kris hadn't come out as they/them and was still being identified as a boy*, and Noelle hadn't realized she was into girls.
Something something forcing queer kids into hetronormative boxes because it works with your narrative when they probably would have genuinely liked each other and grown closer if you hadn't been shoving them together.
