When the flowers start to bud, two leaves curl off from the center stalk and a set of four tightly bound leaves poke out of the two leaves. Inside the set of four leaves grows the gourd. The gourd starts out as a bright cyan before shifting into a deep purple coloring when fully ripe.

The flesh of the gourd ranges from half an inch to a full inch, but after that, the Honey Tear is hollow and filled with a liquid that is nearly identical to honey in consistency.

6 hollow tubes connect the outer flesh and rind to the core. The core itself is the same as the flower's center- A hard, solid knot of 8-length wide horns with prickly spikes along the tips of the horns. The core is not edible and is used to plant more of the plant.
