her presence came quietly  ,    but brutally  .    with all the fervent rush of a spring day    /    an awakening as sharp as the crack of a whip                    (    the cruelty of the flowers pushing their way agonizingly through the dirt  ,    the damnation of something cursed to return again    &    again    &    again    )                     to be never  -  ending    /    death  -  defying  ,    pitiful creature of tooth and nail and blood  —-    are you not the cursed one  ?    to never know the soft embrace of death  ,    but to stare into life’s unforgiving eyes at the blinding dawn of each new day  .    reverence plagues her soul  ,    a fondness towards the things that death may never claim                   (    though you are damned  ,    though you are powerful  ,    i admire the way you are eternal    )                    resurrection yawns in her bones  ,    the smell of honeysuckle    &    roses    decay in the forest and fires meant to consume mortal flesh    follows in her wake  ,    flowers spilling behind her bare feet                     (    the building opens to her  ,    and she heeds no warning nor sign to turn back    )                     her head tilts gently  ,    all the grace of a deer observing a peculiarity deep within the woods    /    her eyes speak of other things  ,    of the mountain lion that watches from stooped rock edge  ,    of a cycle that violently pushes it’s way onward                      ❝    they    wonder    where    you’ve    gone  ,    i    can    hear    them    whispering  .    ❞                     tongue presses to the roof of her mouth  ,    uninvited  ,    but ever present    /    where there is life there is me  ,   and though you are hell  -  bound and damned  ,    you are brutal life in it’s purest form  —-    is that why i wander towards you still  ?                     ❝    the    dead    talk  ,    you’re    only    lucky    heaven    has    poor    hearing  .    ❞   

𝙸𝙽   𝚃𝙷𝙴    𝙱𝙴𝙶𝙸𝙽𝙽𝙸𝙽𝙶  ,      𝙲𝙰𝚂𝚃   𝙵𝚁𝙾𝙼   𝙿𝙴𝙰𝚁𝙻𝙴𝙳   𝙶𝙰𝚃𝙴𝚂   𝚃𝙾   𝙳𝙰𝙼𝙽𝙰𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽    ;      now  ,     duties  squandered  &  vacation  taken  in  permanent  residence  .      he  knows    –––     the  bewildered  stream  of  chatter  endless   &   never  ceasing  ,      THE  KING  ABANDONED  HIS  THRONE   &   on  the  lam    [   from  god  ,    from  brothers   &   sisters  ,     from  heavenly  host    ]  .      voices  rise   &   fall  in  volume  ,     concern  mixing  wildly  with  the  prospect  of  freedom   /   rebellion  ,       as  vacation  stretches  ever  onward  with  no  signs  of  returning  .      bed  of  sins  beckons  kindly  to  him  ,    curling  fingers  of  smog  ushering   &   tempting  to  basin  city  ,      heat  a  welcome  comfort  to  hell’s  cold  ,      cruel  halls  .       at  home  here  ,      amongst  throes  of  parties   &   favors   &   party  favors   –––    more  than  could  ever  be  said  for  the  silver  city  or  hell’s  throne  .        why  should  he  ever  desire  to  leave  ?           ❝       NOT   POOR   ENOUGH  ,     IF  YOU  ASK  ME  .       ❞         time  rendered  meaningless  when  immortality  runs  through  divine  veins  ,      but  it  ticks  onward  regardless  ,       every  fall  of  clock’s  hand  another  second  ‘fore  anticipated  angelic  visit  demanding  to  deliver  him  back  to  rightful  place    [   each  reminder  ignored  even  still     /    even  still  he  gazes  ‘pon  her  fondly   ]  .       whiskey  to  glass  in  golden  tumble  ,       to  lips  in  grace  ,       𝚝𝚘  𝚝𝚑𝚛𝚘𝚊𝚝  𝚒𝚗  𝚊  𝚌𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚒𝚜𝚑𝚎𝚍  𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐  .         ❝      heaven’s  become  rather  good  at  turning  a  blind  eye  over  millennia  ,      so  i’ve  learned  .       ❞

it  hadn’t  been  long.  a  part  of  him,  he  found,  wanted  to  run.  run,  and  avoid,  and  if  he  could  jump  to  another  universe  right  now…  he  would.  yet,  found  he  couldn’t.  ever  since  jumping  through  that  door,  found  his  powers  worked…  differently.  like  stepping  into  wonderland,  and  nothing  quite  made  sense,  anymore.  even  his  wings    ——–    which  was  the  major  problem,  right  now.  could…  feel  them.  in  a  way  he  never  had  before,  sprouted  out  from  his  back,  large  and  heavy  (  were  they  always  so  heavy?  )  and,  apparently,  causing  a  mess,  if  the  sound  of  smashed  glass  and  the  several  hard  thuds  that  followed  was  anything  to  go  by.  okay.  breathe.  breathe.  don’t    ——–    don’t  move!  slowly,  gingerly,  a  hand  lifted  over  his  shoulder,  attempted  to  feel,  maybe…  push  down?  was  that  how  this  worked?  waist  twisted,  as  he  squirmed  (  another  smash!  ),  and  before  long,  found  he  had  no  choice.  he  really,  really  had  no  choice.  “  …  LUCIFER!  ”

𝚂𝙼𝙰𝚂𝙷𝙸𝙽𝙶  ,     𝙲𝙻𝙰𝚃𝚃𝙴𝚁𝙸𝙽𝙶   𝙵𝚁𝙾𝙼   𝙰𝙱𝙾𝚅𝙴     ––     a  tumultuous  symphony  reaching  crescendo  with  shouted  namesake  ,      heard  even  through  the  booming  bass  of  lux  .       he  comes  when  summoned   ;     stairs  ascended     [   lift  neglected  for  time’s  sake   ]     in  mere  moments  ,      anticipation  heady     &    expectant  .        whatever  he’d  been  expecting  ,     it  wasn’t  wings  .         ❝       BLOODY   HELL   ––       ❞         damage  assessed   :     first  to  his  things  ,       scattered  shards    &    displaced  decor  ,      then  to  the  boy  himself  .        ❝       ––    what  on  earth  are  you  trying  to  accomplish  with  those  things  out  ?        ❞         inquiry  comes  on  the  bough  of  exasperation  ,     the  salvageable  bits    &   pieces  precariously  tucked  into  arms  to  be  set  aside  ,     away  from  any  immediate  danger  posed  .         realization’s  but  a  word  away  ,       too  caught  up  in  the  havoc  to  take  notice  .     quick  tongue  resumes  assumption  instead  ,     laced  in  wit  ,           ❝        if  you  were  wanting  a  stretch  ,     you  might’ve  taken  advantage  of  the  terrace  outside  .       𝚙𝚕𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚢  𝚘𝚏  𝚠𝚒𝚗𝚐𝚛𝚘𝚘𝚖  ,     less  things  to  knock  over  .  .  .        ❞
