‘    everyone  knows  you’re  tough ,    decker .    ’          a  truth  meant  to  soothe .       palm  settles       (   barely   )       upon  her  arm     -----     wordless  request  to  stop  moving  away ,       and  running  right  back  into  the  line  of  fire .       god ,       he’s  bad  at  this .       he’d  awkwardly  pat  her  back  just  to  calm  her ,       get  adrenaline  -  blinded  brain  back  to  thinking  clearly .       but  it  just  seems  too  cheesy .       fortunately ,       tone  carries  more  conviction  than  his  touch .          ‘     some  may  not  admit  it  but  they  do .     ’          neither  does  he  question  her  capability     -----     but  there’s  people  in  SWAT  gear  and  shields ,       trying  what  she  had  minutes  ago .       and  then  there’s  her ,       with  just  her  pistol  and  the  graze  of  a  bullet  in  her  shoulder .       so  no ,       he’s  not  too  keen  on  letting  her  throw  herself  right  into  this  again .       you  get  attached  to  certain  cases ,       certain  people  involved ,       and  try  to  do  everything  you  can  ;       and  more .       it’s  understandable .       -----     so  he’ll  be  firm ,       but  gentle .       or ,       more  honest  than  gentle .       (   there  can  only  be  so  much  sweet  talk  if  you  want  to  tell  the  truth .   )          ‘     but  you  keep  forcing  yourself  beyond  pain  and  pushing  help  away ,       one  day  people  are  gonna  expect  nothing  less  than  the  lone  wolf  that’ll  save  the  day ,       ‘nd  stop  asking  if  you’re  alright .     ’          oh ,       he  knows .          ‘     so  stop  caring  what  they’ll  say .       you  did  good ,       okay  ?     ’
