In an act of maturity that is killing me a little bit, I have decided not to reply to this person on Threads, in a discussion of the differences between the way Jamies redemption arc is recieved vs the way Nate's is on Ted Lasso, and the way viewers often fail to acknowledge the level of abuse Nate's dealt with from his father as being similarly damaging to what Jamie dealt with from his, because Nate's father was "only" ever emotionally abusive in a quiet neglectful way, in contrast to the violent and physical nature of Jamie’s horrible monster father.
Other discussions within the same thread are acknowledging the race and class differences that ABSOLUTELY influence viewers perception of the two characters, as well as the way Jamie has the more traditional, linear "starts as an asshole, is shown kindness and improves" storyline, whereas Nate goes through a fall from grace then has to pick himself back up. But the venom people have toward his character, like he has the AUDACITY to spit in his Ted's face after everything he did for him, when he should be nothing but grateful, really has a strong edge of racism and classism that cannot be ignored.
Whereas all of Jamie's earlier crap gets glossed over with the power of white affluent privilege.
Which brings me to— the audacity of this bitch.

And how does Jamie become this innocent little cherub who was only ever mildly baffled when someone didnt recognize his greatness?? Did we forget ALL OF SEASON 1???? The man had to go through a redemption arc for a REASON?? Did we forget how cruel he was to Nate?? How he treated Sam??? Sam specifically said that no one had ever made him feel as bad about himself as Jamie had.
When told to stop messing with Nate, because it made Isaac and Colin think it was cool to mess with Nate, Jamie went out of his way to encourage them to keep doing it, because it made him laugh. But yeah, Nate is the only vindictive one, sure.
Actually you know what, fuck it. Ima say something. Maturity be damned. I wont call him racist (but he is so fucking racist) but I will point out, politely, that he has perhaps forgotten a few things about pre-redemption arc Jamie Tartt.
