This is single handedly the best sentence I have ever read in my entire life, I’m so pleased with and proud of myself right now. My favourite part is that the fact that they picked just one picture means they sat down and discussed which picture of a banana peel they liked best.

They were apparently very enjoyable because the haikus were vindictive and the banana peel has personality. I can’t wait for the issue to come out.

This reminds me of one of my favorite conservation stories!!

When they were trying to bring Puffins back to islands on the US east coast they decided to do so with dummies. Puffins are very social, and as a result would want to land on islands that already have puffins. The dummies looked real from a distance, but were seriously lacking up close, held up by a single peg. Puffins, being social and wanting to fit in, followed suit:

I am a registered veterinary technician (RVT) and my clinic currently has an intern who has her hair dyed half blonde and half black. This past week, I overheard our relief vet talking about how she is embarrassed to take the intern into rooms with clients because of how unprofessional the hair style makes her look. This made me pretty upset, because I too have two-toned hair (my natural red on the top layer and a minty green underneath). She has also expressed her dislike of tattoos (I have two visible on my arms). It pissed me off. The only comments I have ever received from clients about my hair or tattoos have been complements. Since when does someone's hairstyle or choice in body art make them any less capable of doing their job? My colored hair doesn't hinder my knowledge of veterinary medicine, nor do my tattoos stop me from being able to draw blood and run tests. Judging people's professional capabilities based on appearance alone is something that I am completely against. Especially when it involves a student who is missing opportunities to learn because the RELEIF vet (not even the veterinarian that owns the clinic) is worried clients will think she looks funny.
